  1. It depends on what you want out of it. I use FB to keep in touch with friends. I have my settings to friends only, and only people who are friends in "real life" are FB friends. Still get lots of adds for crap I never use them generally better value everywhere else.
  2. Have you tried asking on a teacher's forum. I've not done anything like that but it looks a difficult balance, you need to make a profit but schools are strapped for cash so if you go too high they can't afford you. I would work out your minimum cost add your time at about £50 per hour and see if you get any bookings. If you get loads put the price up next time. Don't forget it will have to go through the books so allow for the cost of that and I think you will need public liability insurance as well. Good luck.
  3. Before the limit is lowered I want 2 things: first more enforcement of the current law second I want evidence that people who are under the present limit are having a lot of accidents due to being drunk, so far I've seen nothing and when the limit went down in Scotland the accident rate stayed the Same.
  4. I sold my motorhome on Autotrader I think it gets less time wasters, but it's not cheap. A lot of tyre kickers and time wasters on Gumtree and Ebay.
  5. If you do get it make them put new tyres on. The tyres will look like new but will have lost grip due to age , there is no legal age limit so it won't get picked up on the mot but they are not safe at close to 10 years old.
  6. It might be sunny in Southampton but it's rained almost continually since Saturday morning here in Coventry and it's still raining now . Sorry about that but just to rub it in we had a great BBQ yesterday afternoon, hardly a drop all weekend.
  7. I parked the car badly last night, not enough room to get the bike out. So I said to Kathy (wife) I'll go and move the car over, and she said "why not take the car" I dont understand. It's sunny it's Sunday so the roads are quite, why would anyone want to take a car if they have a bike??????
  8. The funniest one I saw was at a set of lights in Bracknell the lights have 3 lanes going into 2 after about 100mt. I was second in the que, the front row had a Merc and 2 BMs one driven by a woman. They all looked at each and when the lights changed they all went for it. The Merc and 1 of the beamers got away fine, the woman did not she floored it totally lost control spun round and hit a lamp post, scraping the whole of the side. I arrived in my work van and stopped to see if she was OK, she was shaken but alright. She asked me if there was any damage as it was her boyfriend car I had a good look and said "yes a fair bit" then drove off, pissing myself laughing.
  9. I've done Malaga in August it was bl@@dy hot, I arrived in leathers and did not use them again until back near Madrid. It was not fun, so unless you need to be there go north and enjoy!
  10. Blocked breather on fuel tank? try opening the filler and see if it starts then.
  11. Hi I've had the Enfield a couple of months now and it's developed a rattle from.the exhaust. I've checked all the fixings and had a look down the pipe can't see anything. It is a 64 plate and has a Cat. Could that have come loose?
  12. I got one of these to use as a bike cam. It comes with lots of attachments and looks good for the price sort of poor man's go pro. I put it on the bike today as long as nothing comes loose it should be OK I hope
  13. I've not ridden 800 miles in a day but I have driven more than that. I would take the van and enjoy riding when you get there. I used to tow my Harley behind my camper van in France, it isn’t a problem as long as you have all the paperwork. I had a cover on the bike to protect it on the trailer, nobody ever asked me to take the cover off to check the bike.
  14. I sold a bike trailer on ebay with a buy now price. Guy agreed the price so I took the listing down when he arrived he spent 20 minutes looking at the trailer trying to get the price down. I even put in the add " the buy it now" means you have bought it so only use it if you intend to buy. That was the last thing I have ever sold on ebay, I use Facebay and Gumtree now and they are both free as well

Had to make gaskets for my apprenticeship 50 plus years ago but I haven't made many gaskets since. It may be worth having some gasket paper around not just for the cost but to save time if it has to be ordered in.
  16. Damn , that's what I used do as well ! Sometimes if there wasn't anything behind I wouldn't move at all for a few seconds . Of course nowadays I can't tell if anyone wants to race because my eyeballs are jiggling around in my head and I'm entranced by the strange , Keith Moon like rhythms that the bike is beating out . Me too
  17. You have to be careful about everything you buy now they counterfeit everything. My daughter works for a major airline and they have found fake engine parts and they are very careful where they buy
  18. Had a go at the hazard test. Failed miserably! Part of the problem for me with 50 years riding and driving experience is most of what I do is automatic. Trying to look on the screen and pick the hazards was a lot harder than I expected. So glad I don't have to do it for real. I'm sure with training I could pass it but I think the more actual driving / riding experience you have, the harder the test will be.
  19. As with a lot of things the drink driving law had the right intention at the start, and has I'm sure saved a lot of lives over the years, BUT, the "puritans" have now gone away from the idea that people should not drive when drunk, to any alcohol is a mortal sin and anyone with a trace of the stuff when driving should be put to death. I have always though the way this was brought in is very flawed. The same penalty for slightly over the limit as very over the limit, it should be a sliding scale and a mandatory 1 years ban for sleeping in the back of your car, if you have had a drink, is madness. If slightly over the limit you have less chance of a ban by driving home than sleeping in the car outside a pub. Madness! Also in Scotland, where they have put the limit down, the accident rate is unchanged, this is because people under the English limit are not drunk so lowering has no safety affect at all, it just makes the puritans feel better. If you want to stop accidents caused by drink driving you need more cops to enforce the law as it is now.
  20. You're not Welshgasman on the ER5 Forum are you ? Sorry no
  21. I've done a similar trip, I did it in 1 day I would advise 2 days but I'm not sure about a 125. Also if you're going to that side of Spain I would go through France. I have done both and if you go through France you save a lot on the cost of the ferry. I also think you we need a full licence. John
  22. Not having looked at the highway code since my daughter took her test 26 years ago. I just did an online theory test. I got 92% and a pass, having said that I wouldn't want to take a modern bike test without any training. Thankfully I don't have to
  23. When I had a Harley the rule was if the foot rests weren't scraped down at the edge you're not a proper biker. The posh lot were normally virgin
  24. Do you have a multi meter? If so check the voltage at the battery with the engine running should be about 14 volts and drop with the engine off. If the voltage stays the same then it's a charging problem.
  25. I did my test in 1969 and I have an A - full licence, so do you. If you've not been on a bike for 25 years try booking a back to biking course with a school. Good luck John
