  1. I used to filter every day when commuting from Essex to West London some 30 years ago. … however since returning to biking after a break of 20 years I have made a conscious decision not to filter. I still do filter occasionally but mostly not. I’m never in that much of a rush these days. And in honesty I am aware that my reactions are slower aged 60 plus than 30 plus.
  2. And there was me thinking it was the years on hard drugs … I like Henry though. He seems to have lived a life. Believe he was a war reporter. I haven’t read his book but imagine it’s interesting
  3. There is this clip of Henry Cole online years ago. He does seem completely different. I’m sure I’m completely different as well by the way
  4. Yeah. It was watching the Motorbike Show that got me back in to bikes. Allen Millyard is a genius. I really like Skid and Sam. Henry is ok as well I think
  5. Yeah. I wasn’t judging you in the slightest. I see a great difference between doing 40 in a 30 to doing 80 on a motorway. I do try to keep roughly to the speed limits but I’m not perfect
  6. Just out of interest … why do you exclude speeding?
  7. I would check your insurance situation with your insurance company. Don’t just take the officers word. … I thought some SDP policies include commuting by default? I may be years out of date
  8. No. But have to say this poster is very entertaining. Even if you don’t like sailing https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCvC6orAapK1PAj9k84mVohA
  9. I like Sailing Miss Lonestar. She is batshit crazy. But very entertaining
  10. I thought I had put my bike away for winter. But I actually had a lovely ride out to Masham. And pulled up with some lovely motorcycles to have a toastie and coffee. Very acceptable afternoon x
  11. I’ve heard of this. And I have a suspicion that the opposite happens as well i have the book “Call the Midlife” by the DJ Chris Evans. On page 165 it details how he discovered that he had full motorcycle entitlement on his driving licence. Although he had never taken a test. And it says his assistant checked with the DVLC and they confirmed that he had full motorcycle entitlement Some time after reading the book though he was talking on his radio show about taking his motorcycle test. So probably he decided to take the test anyway
  12. I agree it is probably an issue with the bike. … however have you tried riding with different boots? I have a few pairs of boots. And I definitely find gear selection easier in one particular pair.
  13. It was dreadful what happened to Harry Dunn But it isn’t right to draw parallels with Gary McKinnon. He was the hacker I think is being referred to. Theresa May blocked his extradition. Keir Starmer blocked any prosecution in the UK
  14. Is that correct? I read that she stayed at the scene until an ambulance arrived. And that she gave a statement to the police … I expect the American authorities whisked the family away. Which is just what they tend to do in these circumstances
  15. That is very interesting. Thanks for posting that
  16. Interesting tourist experience at Sydney Harbour Bridge https://www.bridgeclimb.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhajH49zp-gIVhOvtCh09wwNqEAAYASAAEgIcDPD_BwE And they don’t stop the traffic

  18. I disagree. The suffragettes acted to achieve a change in political thinking. However there is no disagreement between the main political parties about needing to act to tackle climate change. The scale of the task is enormous. And the targets set are incredibly ambitious already. The environmentalists seem to want even quicker action. They may be correct. However I certainly don’t think gluing people to roads. Or climbing bridges is in any way going to advance their cause. The route they should be pursuing, in my opinion, is reasonable debate and the ballot box. .… no way will history look on them kindly.
  19. Maybe. It just seemed a bit unlikely to me
  20. I do understand that. I just can’t seeing it sticking to oily porous roads very well. I just can’t see it. I might well be wrong
  21. Not really a post about their cause. Although I would say that I disagree with their methods. I was wondering though, what sort of glue they use? Because I wouldn’t have thought a road would be an easy surface to glue to. So I googled it. And this may or may not be correct. It’s the internet. it would seem that it is superglue. But apparently the police can’t simply pull them off. They have to send for specialists. And that takes time. And sometimes the protestors don’t actually glue themselves. They just pretend to!
  22. I will just update this thread to say that the matter has been resolved satisfactorily now. I did have to email the CEO though
  23. Yeah. I came back to biking and found the Kawasaki z 650 suited me
  24. It's just a saying that you might hear in posh yacht clubs. Boats heel more when sailing to windward. Victorian era yachts would get wet. Owners would be worried their guests would spill their G&T. ....It's just a joke. Or perhaps not. I'm not entirely sure.
  25. I would love to have a ride out with FastBob up to Scotland. I’m a bit slow generally. I usually get overtaken. Just call me SlowDave
