  1. Absolutely. That is a very good point. Other faster bikes are the easiest things to miss in the blind spot. That is why I will continue with a quick check to left or right.
  2. I will still do shoulder checks. I agree with all of the comments on here. … I watched the video again this morning. And to be fair, he does say do a shoulder check if you want. This is the video if anyone is interested. And the comment is at 6.40
  3. So is a shoulder check still recommended? I think it is a good idea when changing lanes etc. but I was watching a video that seemed to imply it was a bit old school
  4. Well I think I did genuinely get a good deal. When I returned to biking four years ago I planned to spend £2k on a second hand bike. … and then I found a place offering pre registered Kawasaki Z650 for £5500 with 0% interest on HP … so I put down the £2k as a deposit. And paid £100 a month for three years. And for the last twelve months it has all been paid off … now if I had done PCP the monthly payments would have been similar. But I wouldn’t now have a “free” motorbike … I keep looking out for another deal as good but they don’t seem to be around now
  5. That is all probably good advice but if the boat isn’t used for charter or on Inland Waterways I don’t believe it is a legal requirement
  6. Insured the bike £73. Less than half my renewal quote. I’ve been lazy last few years and not shopped around. But with 4 years no claims I thought I should. Definitely worth it
  7. I believe that if your boat was built before 1999 then it doesn’t have to comply with RCD (Recreational Craft Directive) … however a lot of surveyors will follow advice from Calor as best practice. If your boat is used on Inland Waters then a separate code of practice needs to be followed I have the same issues regarding obtains gas cylinders. As all boat owners have these days unfortunately. I was under the impression that non pressurised alcohol stoves are much safer than a conventional gas system. Many boats use Origo stoves for this reason. Personally, I have started using a small induction hob. And a small air fryer on board. This only works when plugged into a mains supply. But does allow me to minimise my use of gas
  8. Just because a motorcycle is capable of accelerating quicker than an average family car doesn’t mean that is a sensible speed to pull away from traffic lights in a built up area. The fact she had filtered past other vehicles is irrelevant

I have a feeling they might be allowed to ride a vehicle first registered before 1977. Unfortunately I think a Fizzie is worth £10k now
  10. I got my daughter and son in law a Ninja one for Xmas. Now my son in law had sold his Kawasaki Ninja when they married … I made a joke about getting them another Ninja! Very much a Dad joke! I thought it funny. Don’t think anyone else did lol
  11. There was nothing wrong with her filtering. It was in a built up area. Her bike was capable of pulling away from the lights at a sensible speed for the conditions. I thought she did nothing wrong. Although giving the finger was unwise. But she was definitely provoked. And seemed quite young. I think as we get older we learn to have more restraint … no excuses for the actions of the motorist. I hope he is identified and prosecuted

I think a twist and go scooter would be perfect. Let her learn road sense and traffic skills without the need to change gear as well. Scooter will have a more upright sitting position. And some luggage capacity. My nephew has a Sym scooter which seems to withstand his harsh treatment very well I must admit if I was 16 then I absolutely would want the Aprilia. It definitely does look the biz. Thing is though, to the average car driver, it looks like it would do 90 but in fact it will only do 30 I feel that you would be safer riding something that does only look like it will do 30.
  13. I have never tried contacts. I don’t think I would get on with them. Maybe I should have tried them 30 years ago. Not about to start now. I’m very used to glasses. I feel wearing glasses is part of my identity if that makes sense
  14. So I wear specs. And I do need them. My eyesight is poor without them. This has always been ok. But my peripheral vision hasn’t been as good as you would really want. So although I do all the lifesaver glances, I have also relied on my mirrors quite a lot. I hadn’t really considered if I could improve this situation. But I’ve bought some new glasses this week. Went out riding yesterday. And they are so much better. Not complete peripheral vision. But massively better. Made the ride much easier. The frames do look quite large compared to my previous glasses I think. In fact I wondered if my helmet would fit with them when I chose them. It does … I just thought I would post about this today because it isn’t something I had ever really considered. Or read about etc
  15. Well just try those connectors and see. Re evaluate after twelve months. … I’m not actually of the opinion that just because it is a boat everything has to be waterproof. My boat is very dry …the stuff in the links you first posted to look very neat solutions
  16. I am not an electrician. So just my thoughts. But I do have a boat. And have done similar … the links you posted look neat solutions. But you need to check the load on those cables. Not suitable for a feed to an anchor windlass or an Eberspacher I reckon. Probably ok for most stuff … I like using those Wago connectors. I use them myself. Why not do everything with the Wago connector? And I think they are waterproof
  17. Completely agree
  18. I appreciate this response. I think that in my earlier incarnation of biking I was probably stupid fast. These days I’m quite slow. But having said that I would like to go out on any ride outs
  19. I would like to attend this. I haven’t accompanied other bikers much. I fear I’m a bit slow. I’m not crazy slow. But I worry about it. I read this forum and I feel I have a lot in common with others. And so hopefully I would like to tag along
  20. You might be right
  21. Yeah well my daughter is actually a Law graduate. Apparently there are clauses in the lease about the parking space numbering. It all seems contrary to common sense to me. And I do feel the conveyancing solicitor should have identified this … this is properly doing my head in actually
  22. There is no parking space marked with a 3. The parking space for her flat is detailed on the lease. And with the Land Registry. It is marked with a 1
  23. Well I think flat 1 has a garage. This is doing my head in because my daughter has paid an extraordinary amount for a one bedroom flat with a parking space. Yes. She doesn’t drive and doesn’t own a car. But my estimate is the parking space is worth around £75k. So you would want it signed properly. I actually don’t think there is any dispute between owners that this is her space. But I feel the solicitors should have picked up on this one
  24. My daughter doesn’t drive. She doesn’t have a car. And it doesn’t seem to me to be unreasonable to think that her parking space be signed properly. And the parking space is a significant proportion of the value of the property … yeah I know you were joking with your response.
  25. I’m so slow lol but I would like to hang around
