  1. Good for you ! Its nice that you have listened to the advice of some of the guys on here and I think you will have an enjoyable and profitable year ahead. So many people ask the questions then ignore what they get told lol. some of the things that got said to you were learnt the hard way ! Have fun Cheers Ian
  2. I think Greta might have a point with this one ! Cheers Ian
  3. Rich sounds like you will be better off out of there at the earliest oppourtunity! Guess you already know that though. Cheers Ian
  4. Ha ha! Well, Bianco was right really - there's always a chance one of them could see it, and I wouldn't want to upset the little darlings unnecessarily. I really have no time for drips though. I just can't tolerate weak and feeble people who think that if they sit there and cry someone else will come along and solve all their problems. One of our staff causes me issues every now and then because he tends to go at things like a bull at a gate, meeting every challenge head-on and battering it into submission rather than thinking things through a bit more first. But I'd rather have someone with his positive can-do attitude any day over some wet lettuce who just sits there and cries. Give us a job then mark You`ve just got a new job! Don`t tell us you are thinking of flouncing out of that one already lol. Cheers Ian
  5. Never mind all that . What's that lurking in the background ? Ah found it . Ahh Harriet the Harris ! Gone but not forgotten ! Please remind me not to let you loose in my photo album lol. Let me know if you have any requests involving muscle fours , V twins or naked relatives lol. Cheers Ian
  6. Agreed! But the point of the op was you rolled up your sleeves and did it, rather than crying on facef**k about why you couldn`t . Ageist I know but some of these paperless graduates working in practical industries are worrying. Cheers Ian
  7. I hope your superiors know who solved the problem and said snowflake is now performing her proper role in making your coffee and listening to those of us who were alive when there was such a thing as music? Cheers Ian
  8. Megawatthad the correct answer ! Wire brush on a drill is your friend and with bbq paint 3 or 4 coats if required! Pic shows a set of 2004 ZRX standard downpipes treated in this way (for sale if sensible offers received lol) Cheers Ian
  9. Only question I really want to know the answer to is compared to a zx6r j1/a1p how comfortable are they? Thats not something anyone can answer apart from yourself! Comfort is a personal thing and what is comfortable for one is not for another Well said ! I am 6ft and reasonably skinny but someone shorter or more generously padded might not like lol. Cheers Ian
  10. For what its worth before attempting to start it I would see if you can check that the old fuel supply was turned off whilst in storage and if possible remove the old (possibly stale and rank) fuel. Also worth turning over using a spanner on the crank to check there is no kind of "locking" and no feelings of things coming into contact. Good luck with it they have a good reputation for reliability and I am sure you will be fine. Cheers Ian
  11. PM sent looking forward to hearing from you. Cheers Ian
  12. Do it Rich and be prepared to be astonished. I have 2 gen1`s one standard and one a bit modified (Ahem) and love the bones off them as fast comfortable mile eaters. Cheers Ian
  13. Spot on advice. The kind of things that suffer from storage of that duration (providing it was dry?) can be easily sorted and still give you a great first bike and a potential profit if you decide after a year it`s not for you. Cheers Ian
  14. One door shuts and another opens ! Congratulations I hope it turns out to be somewhere you enjoy working. Cheers Ian
  15. Google "Moto gymkhana " Some of these guys and girls are astounding and on some machines we would not believe capable. Cheers Ian
  16. Halfords May have them but they are available on line. To remove them you push the center pin right through then the claws on the back will close and let you pull the clip out. To re fit put the centre pin into the hole BUT not all the way in. Then push the clip into the holes and when the clip is fully in THEN push the pin all the way in. This pushes the claws out and locks the panels in place. They are a swine. Got them in the rear panel on my bike and had to remove 4 to get at the rear light unit. Have fun refitting. Spot on and good description of how to fit the little buggers ! I buy packs of them from Halfrauds as they have a nasty habit of breaking ! Cheers Ian
  17. This is actually quite mild I will look for others if you wish but basically if you own one of the models mentioned in my earlier post I would be a little cautious and NEVER start the bike with the clutch lever pulled in. Ironically several Suzukis require this lol. My own 2004 ZRX is fine but I have a tamer in the garage ready to fit at the first sign of damage and I have been out in the van to rescue someone when the pressure plate had deposited so much swarf the engine seized so not all the same. Cheers Ian
  18. This one is mild ! Just popped "Clutch basket " Into search on a Kawasaki forum. Strange happenings. G'day folks! Have any of you wise men ever spotted something like this before? This morning I opened up the oil cap on the crank case and I spotted this through the peep hole. Looks like hundreds of tiny little dinks around the clutch casing. Anyone know what could have caused this? I only bought the bike recently so I'm unsure about when it might have happened. (See if I can get a photo to upload). Grr Let me know if pic shows I will search for another !
  19. No the problem is usually chunks being taken out of the clutch basket I will look for some pics for you it is quite astonishing how much damage can be inflicted. I have personally removed oil filler caps and walked away from bikes with severe damage. On the ZRX OC site there are some horrible stories of failiure ! I will have a look for ya. Cheers Ian
  20. Am I reading that right? 55 notes for a small piece of aluminium, two nuts, two bolts, some loctite and cable ties? AFits: ZX10, ZX11C, ZX11D, GPZ750r, GPZ900r, GPZ1000rx, GPZ1100, ZZR1100, ZZR1200, Concours, ZRX1100 & ZRX1200R, using Kawasaki Tensioner part #39170-1059. Check www.Kawasaki.com parts listings to check part number used on your Kawasakgreed it does sound dear but what annoys me is the number of models affected and how few people make the bits required to cure the problem.
  21. For anyone that owns a ZRX or ZZR and some GPZ models you might want to check out Kwicks chain tensioner mod.https://www.kwick.biz/product/tensioner-tamer-alternator-starter-chain-tensioner-fix/ No chairs or whips but if you had seen some of the damaged clutch baskets you would be talking to Pete who runs the company. Cheers Ian
  22. Do you pull the clutch lever in when you start the bike? Common fault on ZRX1200 and 100 leading to us buying chain tamers ! Worth a look. Cheers Ian
  23. You have my greatest sympathy and I applaud you for sticking with it ! May I ask whereabouts in the country you are? In my experience in most cities the deployment of stingers is usually impractical for cars let alone for small 2 wheelers because there are so many different routes and not that many police ! Cheers Ian
  24. Not familiar with the bike you have but in general and especially with battery`s if you buy cheap you will probably buy twice. Cheers Ian
