  1. good points: Great idea May have solved the prolem Bad points: rather expensive would have to be imported from the USA It is a good find though, although I think it would send you slightly off ballance, and i still think it would be classed as overloaded so may be stopped by the police. I will have to check the wording of the vehicle overloading law. I think it is down to individual police officers to say if it is overloaded or not though
  2. failing getting two bike, sell ya motorbike and get one of these http://exporter88169.en.made-in-china.com/product/aIExDuTOvQCX/China-Bicycle-Engine-Kit-F50-F60-F80-.html engine the 20 miles, ride with the group, engine back simples idea> I like using HTML i kinda stole the idea off someone else on this forum, but i cant stop using it now lol.
  3. No, you can get a restricted liscence at 17 and have it for two years, or wait untill you are 21 and do Direct Access and get a full liscence. So i guess that means a trailer is out of the question
  4. not sure, but i think u need a full liscence, or maybe a different liscence to tow a trailer, and putting a bicycle on the back would prob be classed as over loading it, which is illegal, plus it would seriously effect the ballance. Also, say hi in the newbie thread
  5. if you are buying a rucksack, MAKE SURE IT IS 100% WATERPROOF! try and find some reviews on it aswell because some companies claim to have waterproof products but they are hardly splashproof, and you really dont want your laptop getting wet!
  6. Bad luck. I hate those things. e.g I would say a cyclist riding along the road is a hazard, but according to the test he is only a hazard once he hasbswerved into your path. I would also say a bus overtaking a car coming the oposite way in your lane is a hazard. according to the test it is not, i think it is because it is too far away. I would also say people approaching a zebra crossing are a hazard, but these are only a hazard once they have set foot onto the zebra crossing... shouldnt they be training us to look for hazards before they actually happen? I mean when someone steps onto a zebra crossing, or someone on a bike swerves into your path it is too late... Anyway, get some practice done, there are a few free online ones out there. i think there is a link to one on direct.gov somewhere I will find them for you later if you want. they are bookmarked on my computer. I am on the laptop atm.
  7. good find, having a read lol. came acrossthis and thought it would be a good idea for this country "All learner and provisional licence holders are restricted to a zero alcohol limit."
  8. I did this at my mates house. We tried everything and it wouldn't come off. If its tarmac, we accidentally found out battery acid removes it rather well when we spilt some whilst filling his battery up. haha. nice to see you take safety seriously It is an old driveway which was tarmac, but i think a bad quality tarmac and now has loose stones all over it and grass everywhere, so dont think it matters too much. Although it is next to where everyone keeps there bins, so it will be noticable and it is in the corner next to my bike... I think they can put 2 and 2 together and figure out it was me Also it is right where my front wheel needs to go when getting in and out I will try and avoid it, and hopefully because it is in mud/crud rather than on the tarmac, it will wash off after a few rains just typical that it doesnt rain when you need it too
  9. inspection complete: not good. still a patch of oil. sorry enviroment
  10. I used some 4t lawnmower oil.. hope its ok :S however i did make rather a mess by knocking over half a litre of the stuff on the driveway shared by me and the neighbours... soaked a load up with kitchen towel before mixing a load of soap and water together and pouring it all over the mess i created. I havent been back sinse to check the dammage :S but hopefully the soap has dispersed it so it shouldnt get on anyones tyres. But think it will leave a mark, and kill off some of that grass that is growing through the driveway lol infact, i think its time for an inspection now the water should have dried out...
  11. I have 4t lawnmower oil, that will do for now well untill i get some propper stuff anywayz
  12. Haha, so it is. but i dont have any at the moment.. is it ok to use 2t oil for time being?
  13. I had a skim through my bike manual earlier today and came across some suggestions it gave when diagnosing problems. The first suggestion it gave was to make sure the ignition was on lol. Honestly I havent got a clue tho, sorry. But maybe make sure side stand is up. Has it rained recently? if so it may have got in somewhere so maybe wait an hour and try again? (this has happened to my gf) erm.... its prob something really embarracing, e.g is the kill switch off? Last time you topped up with petrol, you did use unleaded right? That is the extent of my awesome machanical knowledge Hope it helps. if not then hope someone with a bit more knowledge turns up soon... :S
  14. I have a 2t scooter ( ) and it has basically a sponge as an air filter which basically looks like this http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/Kymco/Vitality_50_2T/04-09/picture/Air_Filter (expet a diferent shape, as it is a different bike lol). Anyway, I was reading the instructions for my lawnmower and it needed the air filter oiled and it just said to use 4t engine oil. So would it be ok to use 2t engine oil on my 2t filter? or should i use the lawnmower (4t) oil? Or should i use some special oil filter oil? Thanks Alex
  15. Other - usually I leave mine out in the rain Although it does need a propper wash soon. It has had some bumper care on the lights etc just cuz i had some which i used on some plastics on the bike (its a scoot and i used it on the black plastic which had greyed with age. It works great!), and when i saw it repelled water i decided to put some on my lights cuz i thought in theory it is better if my lights dont have water on them because it obstructs the light. In reality ofcoarse light just shines straight through water, but i had loads of this stuff left and thought what the hell. Also put a bit of WD40 on the wheels because they get dirty the easiest and i have read that muck doesnt stick on as much if it has WD40. (btw i only got it on wheels and not tyres or breaks)
  16. Congrats! slightly off topic, but what did you buy/read/watch etc to help pass mod 1 without training? I am looking to do the same thing eventually , which obv means i cannot help you with your mod 2, sorry.
  17. To be fair i think i would wear knee protection on the outside (if such thing exists) if i was wearing them all day cuz i could take them off. infact wouldnt they come off a bit too easily in a crash if fitted to the outside?
  18. no experience in a bottle? thought you could buy anything in a bottle these days? Water, welsh air, boats..
  19. I have recieved a pm about a recent comment i had made, and am aware that it was somewhat insensitve. For this I apologise to anyone it has effected. As I have been advise, I will from now on put more thought into posts I submit. Again, sorry to anyone that my words have hurt. ps The reason for this being in this section is because it is in the same section as the post i am apologising for is. Mods please dont move to general chat.
  20. RE my last comment. I am not saying its not tragic, and i am not saying that the family will get over him passing, and i am not saying it was anyones fault. I am just saying that personally putting myself in the shoes of both his family and the others involved in the accident I think that after a while (many, many years) that if i had lost someone, I would be able eventually deal with it (not get over it, but learn to deal with it), however if I had seen a body under my wheels, personally i dont think i would ever forgive myself for it (and again, i am not blaming anyone, this is just how i immagine i would feel). I write this post in reply to a pm, and *though it would be best to reply on this thread aswell as replying to the pm encase i had upset anyone else over what i had said. I apologise and I in no way meant for that post to be insensitive. R.I.P Tomizawa EDIT: *thought
  21. This is tragic. Not just for Tomizawa and his family, but for the two riders who hit him. I know if I was one of those riders, although they had no serious injuries, would never race again. In a way i think a death is worse for the person who caused it (well, who was involved) than it is for the family of the deceased. The family (after many years) will deal to live with it, but i am not so sure that the other two riders involved will.
  22. Thers's ya answer lol. Atleast it was something simple to fix!
  23. I did my *CT with a bloke in tracksuit bottoms. The instructor said "this is the sort of thing that shouldnt be warn" the guy then said "because if you come off they will mealt do your skin. I know, I have come off in them before" EDIT:*CBT. B button is still faulty. soz
  24. In a word... no. Personally speaking at least, I attended the school of hard knocks, you soon learn how to tailor your riding style to the conditions. Especially after having the front fold under you. see, i want to learn without having a crash.... or is this not possible?
  25. Thats unlucky! So the people who ride all weather, have you been on a corse to learn how to ride in icy conditions? I know you can do it for cars. I think i would need to go on one if such thing exists, because i am still all over the place in the rain :S (AAAHHHH drain cover!)
