  1. i was filtering yesterday morning, about 10 mls an hour, very sunny day, lots of peeps moving over for me, then white van man saw me and blocked my way.lmao, i had to laugh as a few of the car drivers blasted their horns when they saw him move over.
  2. awe, congrats mate, well done. i wish you the best in whatever you buy.
  3. i agree, i had a yamaha yb100 many years ago and remember it doing 70 all day long.
  4. got to agree with the guys. i can get 75 out of mine down hill with a tail wind, lol. seriously, i can cruise at 55-60mph on mine.
  5. found the problem. a small tear in the carb diaphragm. now repaired and all tickety boo. i want to thank you guys for all the help. i have learned a bit more about the bike than i did last week, so worth it. still, can't pick bike up till tomorrow now as off to see wife in hospital.
  6. it does indeed have a side stand cut out switch. i will mention it to the guys in the morning. (my wife broke her hand this morning, waiting for surgery, so bike is at the back of my mind at the mo)
  7. just had a phone call. they have stripped and cleaned carb and put it back together and problem is still there. so they are systematically checking everything. god, my wallet is already crying in pain.
  8. checked everything this morning, can;t find anything obvious. sprayed wd40 all over carb area with bike running, no change in revs. so it's now in the shop. fingers crossed this isn't going to be costly (again)
  9. ok, checked everything i could see. pipes, rubbers and so on. all seem to be intact. air filter is a bit dirty so i will replace that asap. bike idles nicely, and runs very smooth in top gear at low speed, but as soon as i throttle it the spluttering starts again. i think it's time to put it back in the workshop. if it's the carb i don't have the know how or confidence to start mucking about with it.
  10. ok. i have to get to bed as work tonight again. i'll do the checks tomorrow. i think the fuel filter is part of the tap system that goes into the tank so i'll have to remove the tank so i can angle it to prevent petrol spill. (will check manual). air filter is fairly new, but again i will check it all out. i really appreciate the help guys.
  11. ok, will do. just been on a 10 mile ride, deffo better with the choke part to full way out, not as jumpy.
  12. i put a new plug in (existing one is 4 weeks old and iridium), but no difference. from the manual, i can't see it mentions any points, says fully transistorized .
  13. i normally go straight to the petrol station as soon as i have to put the reserve on. going to see if it is any different as used the car for work last night.
  14. i gave everything a good spray this morning but it made no difference at all. when i rev it in neutral it gets so far then just struggles to maintain them. i have to change gear much sooner than i would normally or it feels as though it wants to die on me. top speed is about 40 in 5th gear before it starts to 'kangaroo'
  15. ok, so now i'm getting pissed off. damn bike, been garaged for 2 weeks while away on hols. did a couple of short runs wed/thursday. running great after all the recent problems with back tyrewheel etc. half way to work last night (about 10 miles) bike started to splutter as though it was running out of fuel, the more revs it got the worse the splutter, the higher gear the better. i know i had plenty in, but still put it onto reserve. made no difference at all. i continued to splutter along the A1 until i got to work. bike was left outside overnight and again this morning i had same problem. though it might be bad fuel, so put a tenners worth in, still same problem. took it to bike shop who said it was cold carburettor causing this that and other (to much physics for me), told me to get something called pro fst, but no one and i mean no one inc halfords and motor discount centre has heard of it. but one bike shop told me to try nitrox hot shot. so i have put that in. only done 2 miles since, so will have to wait a bit to see if it makes any difference. the float chamber has been drained, plenty of fuel coming out, changed plug. any ideas guys. tbh i'm getting sick of the continuous problems with this bike. not so much a joy at the mo.
  16. cheers, very useful from first few pages I've read.
  17. hey hey hey, all sorted now. new rear wheel and tyre. very smooth now. thanks for all you help guys. much appreciated.
  18. turns out it is the rear wheel, has a bad flat spot. they say there is nothing they can do, needs a replacement wheel. so on the lookout (posted a wanted add) thanks for all the help guys.
  19. will do it had new front wheel bearings put in 6 weeks ago. i'll ask the garage to check everything.
  20. well, went back to the garage, they went to balance the back wheel to find a bleb in the centre of the tyre, not due to be replaced but would have done so before winter set in, so i got a new tyre all balanced and set off with a big smile on my face only to find the same damn vibration on the motorway. it's so bad i see double vertically, lol. rang the guys at the garage and they are as stumped as me (a bit worrying as this is what they do for a living). so back again in the morning. at this rate i'll be buying another bike.
  21. well, had it back to the shop today. they did a test ride, vibration is coming from the back. so, had to take panniers off this afternoon and got to take it back in the morning and they will balance back wheel and we go from there. now, they noticed my handle bars are bent, i never noticed till they told me, now i'm paranoid, lol. the previous owner may had had a drop, but i can't see any other damage and i put new bar ends on when i bought it. anyway, question is, as the bar isn't to noticeably bent, can i leave them, straighten them or replace them?
  22. i know what you mean, just relax a bit more, try to let the clutch out a tad slower and after using the indicator, every 20 seconds or so look at the indicator light until you know it is out. helped me although there are still the odd times i forget.
