my ABS only kicks in under hard braking, this judder was very evident when just gently pulling the brake lever.

looking for your thoughts. was riding home yesterday in freezing fog (thought it was going to be mild?), was only a few miles from home after doing all sorts of manoeuvres from straight runs up the A1 to low speed filtering. anyway, i was coming off the A19 onto the A690 slip road at approx 70mph when i gently applied my front brake and got this almighty judder through the handle bars and brake lever. I let go of the brake lever and it went as fast as it came on, pulled brake lever again and it did it again but wasn't as bad and as i slowed right down it became un-noticeable. for the next few miles i tried to bring it back on but couldn't as road speeds were max 30mph. I've got the bike up on the centre stand, can't feel any play on the forks or the front wheel, all feel solid. new pads fitted in jan,brakes been super since. only MOT'd in early feb. any thoughts guys. got to say i got a bit of a shock.

I guess that Keith is hoping not to have to take the sump off again.... Only ever had to take the sump off a bike once before......after I overdid the sump plug.......hence the reason I use a torque wrench all the time now..... Anyhoo.....most bikes these days will only need the gasket without any sealant.....gone are the bad old days of poorly machined mating surfaces..... indeed, I'm hoping never to have to do this again,lol. thanks for the info, ill pop it on at the weekend and let you know how i get on.

well, just need to know when changing a sump oil seal gasket do i need to use anything else such as a sealer etc. long story, but i overfilled my sump and blew the gasket, glad it wasn't anything worse.

well, this is the plan if i have no luck with the chap in Wales. he is advertising them for $14 plus p&p, so if i can get one for that then i will be a happy chap once again.

nothing hidden, just the standard tool kit under the tail. i found someone in Wales that makes them from a 5/8 A/F deep socket, so have emailed them. fingers crossed

my plan yesterday was to do a service on the bike (done nearly 7000 miles since i got it in Jan). quietly confident as i have all the diagrams/service disc/etc on my computer and have looked and looked so i don't need to keep going back to the computer every 2 mins, well that's the plan anyway. so, managed to get the fairings off, tank off, air filter box half off to show the internal plugs. then what----the impossible, i know i needed a very thin plug socket, but i didn't know it had to be paper thin. so after many phone calls, i had to leave the inside plugs until another day. so in total i managed to change the air filter and the 2 outside plugs. going for an oil and filter change and gearbox oil change today (weather permitting). don't suppose anyone knows where i can get a 14mm ultra thin deep plug socket?
