  1. i wish you luck. i found the hardest part was both the cones and u turn (my slow manoevre was poor), but managed no problem. make sure you get up to speed on the avoidance and emergency stop. and don't forget to keep front wheel between the 4 blue cones on the circuit test, miss that and it's a fail. go as wide as u like on the figure of eight, use lots of back brake, not front. it's all about clutch/throttle/brake control on the slow manoevres. keep bike in 1st or 2nd, never go into third (no acceleration).
  2. i'm sure you can do the service yourself, spark plug, air/oil filter and oil. use manual for anything else. i did fork seals on my marauder, took a couple of hours and cost less than £40 for parts. again, i used the owners manual.
  3. did mine in Gateshead, wasn't to bad. a few busy streets, but makes it easier as you ride slower, lol
  4. sorry to hear that hunny. i failed for not indicating at a junction even though i know i pressed the button. your retest date is same as mine. i wish you all the luck. mind, got to say i enjoyed every minute of my test, as the guys have said, treat it as a ride out, nothing more and you will be fine.
  5. thanks Remy, mod 2 booked for 6th august. i know what you mean, but at no time have i ever had cause to doubt my signalling, my instructor says i am perfect that way, so i guess it's just a hiccup. ah well, just 19 days to wait now.
  6. i failed. i'm gutted, 1 major fault. failure to indicate. examiner pulled me over about 5 mins into the test and said the last two right hand turns we made i had not indicated. i said i had (one thing i know i can't be faulted on is indicating). we checked the indicators and they seemed to be working fine, so he said he would keep an eye on them, he acknowledged he had seen me do my shoulder check and he even admitted seeing my hand move to turn the indicator on, but no light was showing, and it was just the right one. it was torrential rain, so i thought perhaps the glove had slipped in the rain and hadn't pushed the indicator button on far enough. i made sure i had the indicator warning lamp showing from then on. anyway, rest of the test went fine, no minors at all, was best ride of my life, then he took me into the office and said i had failed.
  7. thanks for the help guys, my trainer let me use my own headphones today and they were so much better. just got to keep the nerves and not make any silly mistakes tomorrow.
  8. just wondering if anyone has had problems on their mod 2 hearing the examiner?
  9. guys, need some advice. went out today with my instructor for a 3 hour ride. was ok doing local roads etc, but as we got into faster traffic, i started to have problems hearing his instructions, partially due to the wind noise in my helmet, but also as i have a slight hearing problem anyway. can anyone suggest ways to reduce wind noise, i use a caberg justissimo. i know it's a bit late as my test is on Monday, but it's not been as bad as it was today and i'm worried i may not be able to follow what the examiner is saying. thanks.
  10. wow, very nice indeed. ride safe
  11. it's 1.30pm around Newcastle and Gateshead, got the metro centre and some very busy roundabouts. and i don't know the area. didn't do to well today. was totally wound up. missing simple shoulder checks and keep looking left instead of right. better improve before Monday.
  12. good luck mymidlifecrisis. hope all goes well. just had a look at the forecast, not good for my training this week, heavy downpours. i'm off to ride in 30 mins and it is pouring down. not sure about the weather for monday?
  13. wow, got a cancellation, so off to get some practice in. doing a block next week, 10 hours plus one free, if i'm good then a few hours less, if need more then so be it.
  14. OMG, just amazing. got to thank YOU for keeping this diary going through all the trials and tribulations you must have had. the bike is fantastic, a real testament to your hard and unwavering love of labour on this bike. THANK YOU PLEASE END WITH A FLIER OF AN MOT CERT. PLEASE PLEASE.
  15. gap is 0.6-0.7mm (0.7-0.8 for 04 model) doesn't mention any others in my owners manual. just a thought, I've never checked mine as most plugs are pre set. i also use iridium plugs.
  16. passed with one minor, 49kmp instead of 50kph,lol.
  17. many congrats.
  18. well, only a few hours to go (1.05pm).
  19. side panels just pull off, held on by a screw and i think 2 rubber bungs. owners manual off ebay, cos me £16 and is brill. much better than the haynes. can't see it being hard to fit a buzzer, but i'm no auto electrician.
  20. got my training session booked for tomorrow, not been on the 500 for several weeks, but quietly confident. lets hope the weather stays as nice as today.
