  1. past 4/12/81 and never looked back
  2. cant hurt to give it a go and try cleaning it up and the superdream one should fit as both bikes used same forks and wheels
  3. has it got all new plugs in it? One or 2 of them could be breaking down under load
  4. have you got the plug leads on correctly one coil does cylinder 1 and 4 the other coil does cylinder 2 and 3
  5. have you checked it with the engine running and have you made sure you have put everything back in correct order.it could just be it is like it from being out and no oil going round the clutch
  6. if you are still going to strip it down and repair replace everything is it worth getting it moted as during the strip down/rebuild you would replace most of the mot parts like head race bearings wheel bearings brake pads/shoes swinging arm bushes
  7. welcome to the forum if you plan on sticking around pop into newbie section and say hi. do not use car oil as it is not designed for motorcycle wet clutches and will make the clutch slip you want a good quality 10w/40 bike oil semi synthetic.rocker gasket can go on dry they often strat leaking once they have been on and off a few times.the balance box missing wont to much difference on the exhaust.and there is a short in the wiring or it has been chopped about to make it keep running once ign is off,you might well find that if you put switch in the run position it will bump start without the key being turned on,so it needs checking out
  8. depends how long it has sat around for it might need the bowl dropping off bottom of carb and jets cleaning out,if you have a spare spark plug there just put it in the cap and rest it on the engine turn the engine over on the starter and see if there is good spark there in case it is dirty plug cap or dodgy coil as well
  9. i would be surprised if the zzr1100 pipes fit but any of the z1000 systems should fit as they are oil cooled and the zzr is water cooled.you can buy new system from motad which is a 4 into 1 or even have a look on the ebay in america as that is the market the ltd was destined for so might be more choice on ebay.com rather than ebay.co.uk
  10. the seal goes flat side up so the section with the groove in cant be seen and leave top bolts in untill you have changed seals if you undo them first then you need to get right down in fork tube to hold the unit still at the bottom that the allen bolt goes into from underneath,by leaving the top done up it keeps the pressure of the spring on it to hold it tight for you to undo bolt in bottom of fork leg
  11. all depends on length of stem passing through frame and size of bearings, cant help any more than that
  12. its not to bad a job to do first make sure you have got bike propped up under the engine remove front wheel then try and remove mudguard, loosen pinch bolts on side of yokes and slide forks legs out.remove dust cap on each fork and remove circlip holding seal in. once you have done that turn fork leg up side down and you will see allen bolt in bottom of fork leg undo that and then slide forks apart once allen bolt is out the oil will pour out of the hole so be ready to catch it.you can then use the top tube of the fork as a drift to remove old seal.once out slide it off bottom of fork tube andclean area up in top of fork.you wil have to gently drift new seal into place, then slide fork tube back in untill it hits the bottom and replace the allen bolts.then remove top cap of fork leg and put in correct amount of oil, once done put top caps back on and rebuild front end
  13. sounds like the mixture on the carb neds adjusting unless the choke is stuck on
  14. its either the alternator or the regulator/rectifier i would go with alternator as normall when rectifier goes down it tends to overcharge the battery.check all the connections first and make sure its not just dodgy connector plug
  15. no worries im in peterborough every other weekend so if you dont get it sorted just give me a shout
  16. well the 32bhp might be because it has been restricted with washers in the inlet rubbers so you will need to pull carbs off and have a look but if its jumping out of 1st gear then that sounds like it could well be a fairly big issue and need looking into as it could be broken gear on 1st.im in peterborough on sunday afternoon if you want me to have a look at it i spent 10 years with the fzr1000 genesis
  17. time to speak to honda guy then unless someone else on here has any ideas
  18. you might be able to use carb cleaner in them it might clear them if they are manky apart from that im not sure wht next apart from speak to honda mechanic
  19. sounds like it is problem with auto choke or injectors then or even where the fuel goes into the injectors as the old fuel might of gummed them up where it has gone stale and turned to gel
  20. have you checked the pump is pumping fuel and not just ticking so it sounds like its working
  21. have you put new clean fuel into it as the old petrol will of gone off by now and if has got fuel filter that might need replacing as well
  22. are you sure you havent dropped a washer out when tilting casing about as normally the kick start gear wouldnt normally move and the kick start being in wrong place could just mean you didnt reposition it in same place it was in before
  23. surely the side stand sensor should be replaced as the bike is only 3 months old
  24. what bike is it on as some bikes are only single piston and spliting the caliper wont affect anything havfe you checked to make sure the bleed nipple isnt blocked, take it right out if you have to make sure its clear and put back in or the master cylinder is giving up
  25. yep you will need new fork oil and if they are standard forks then dont fully dismantle them once you have them out of the yokes you wil need to lift dust caps and remove circlips, then you will see large allen key countersunk into the bottom of the forks undo it from there once bolt undone you will use the top part as slide hammer to pull seal out of bottom leg.
