Dry day here in South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire so a morning ride out the the Willingham Cafe to the east of Market Rasen seemed a good idea. 9 deg c, dry, so jeans today instead of the armoured, padded bike trousers.
It was early when i arrived at the cafe, 20 - 30 bikes there and a chat with a few guys ensued ...
Then you realise all the riders are white males over 60 !!
Now white male is fine, 45% of the UK population are white male .... but over 60 !!
Where are all the young motorcyclists ????

When I left the cafe i headed to the now defunct RAF Binbrook. The last home of the Lightning Fighter and where all our Tornados where destroyed by scrap merchants. I served for 25 years in the Royal Air Force,( Nimrod, Phantom FGR2 / F4J, Tornado GR4 .. Flightline Airframes Engineer ) when it was a force with hundreds of fighters and thousands of pilots and engineers ..... Now, 60 war ready Typhoons and 6 F-35's .... Putin must be trembling in the Kremlin .... trembling with laughter ...!

Always sad to revisit a base that you remember as full of life and noise to find it boarded up and empty ...

  2. 1.Head on 40mph collision with a Volvo 240, uninjured, bike wrecked, police found me screaming at driver and beating the f**k out of the car - denting every panel, when they arrived. Driver said sorry, well, he was on my side of the road !! Straight road.

2.Hit the back of HGV because i wasn't watching where i was going ... slightly bent forks ..straightened satis.

Yes, scantily clad young girls in summer. DOH!

3.Fell asleep on the A14 near Ipswich rolled up embankment, fell off and .... woke up ... bike and me undamaged. Police car on scene helped me get bike back to road and shared their flask of coffee with me 👍

Screen Buffeting on V-Stroms .... Todays issue.

So ..Before cutting the original screen down i found a Powerbronze short screen on the interweb ..... on first ride, a dash along the local motorway the buffet seemed to have disappeared.
Today i want for a longer ride, through the Peak District. Not only no buffet but a much quieter and pleasant riding experience .... fantastic bit of kit...

I've got to say it I don't get your post you say you like the armed US style of Policing but accuse the UK Police of being woke. In another comment you state Police were swaggering around with guns making children cry? I'm guessing the sight of those US officers armed up would really make a child cry, just an observation 🤔

I had tried to go down the satirical humour route ..... and obviously failed ..... I'll stick to Engineering Mike..... 😀

Itching to shoot an un-convicted suspect, he is NOT the law.

Whats your answer ? Some counselling for the Gremlins, new trainers, maybe a holiday .... a telling off from their Nana's .....🤣 If Constable Woke tries to arrest them he will soon be twinned with a colander i expect .....

  8. I lived and worked in San Diego for 12 months, at Fightertown USA, Miramar. We found the Police to be professional, blunt, to the point, only interested in keeping the law  ... and heavily armed.

It was a great place to visit and work ... but not to live, for me.

I was happy to get back to dull and windy Suffolk.

Or like Keith Palmer lose his life protecting others! Don't confuse Police Forces with the individuals. Yes there are some rotten apples but also a lot of hard working individuals who do the best they can to do a good job.

It's not confusion Mike it's lack of public profile. Through covid we saw South Yorks Police bully and coerce outside their legal remit day after day.

Video after video of coercion, threats and abuse of the people they where meant to protect.

These good Police ... where are they ???

The only Police i see in South Yorkshire are swaggering around with heavy Heckler & Koch machine guns dressed like the baddies from a Si-Fi movie.

Our 5 year old lad ran crying from 2 officers in Meadowhall shopping centre .. he was terrified ...

I have no doubt there are a majority of good officers ..... But where are they ?? They're invisible to people on the streets of Rotherham and Sheffield..

I fitted a Hitchcocks talker screen to my Himalayan today.   Pleased with the results as I was getting buffeting around eye level with the standard screen but the higher Hitchcock screen has cured that.
I was lucky enough to get the screen second hand from a Facebook group for less than half price from a talker chap than me who the screen didn’t work for.

I've got the HITCHCOCKS short screen ... buffet free .. totally .. if you want it it's available for 50% of H's price including postage

I’d be fuming if it were riding season. That’d be the biggest loss as you’d essentially have to wait a year before really enjoying the bike again.
