Luckily the temp is in the 20's so the air is dry and the ground will dry out. Nothing worse than camping with damp air.. BB

When something sounds to good to be true, it usually is; however this is not always the case. First things first, get the registration number and; Get an insurance quote Get an HPI check done Ask a friend of a friend of whoever is a mechanic to come check it out with you, they have an ear for mechanical noises. Overall 2k miles is low and for a first bike its ideal. Don't buy with your heart buy with your head - easier said than done.. Good luck BB

I nipped into Halfords and bought both the; Low Tone. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165704 And the Mountney. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... 65704#dtab Fitted them both individually and the Mountney sounded louder and felt more robust, so its fitted. BB

I'm not that fussed about hiding it, as the bike is naked it won't ruin the look as much. Have you heard this horn in action? one of the reviews states its not that loud/could be louder? But i suppose its probably better than the stock.. BB
-
The bike only has one mounting point so the dual won't work also i couldn't find the ones you stated for less than £22 - and the Stebel is £29.. unless i am looking in the wrong place, possible you could post a link? BB

That's the problem with my bike (shiver) its sort of naked so it would stick out like a sore thumb, I've read people hiding it under there seat but that sort of defeats the object slightly. I will have a look at what you have recommended. I'm after a quick swop with no worries of wiring/circuits etc - on initial look they could well fit the bill. Thanks (again) BB

I've just seen some video's of the horn on youtube, they look quite bulky but can apparently just plug directly into the existing stock wiring, weight can be an issue i believe as well. Anyone recommend them? BB

Gotcha... Newbie back to the scene.. Kamikaze cave run BB -
I wouldn't worry about them lads from Stockport nicking stuff (they aint to bright from that side of town) - what you do need to worry about is (how can i say it) let's say a good solid padlock for the tent and a wine bottle cork should suffice! BB

Well the 1/2 can of WD40 last night and cutting enough of the head to get a good strong flat head in and a good twist forced the bolt out! Excellent news, now the windscreen is on, looks slightly off angle by about 3mm (hate OCD) i can return the £18 worth of titanium drill bits and i can relax for an hour or two! Thanks for the hints people, very much appreciated. BB PS: In my peeved off state yesterday i wheeled the bike back and ahem forgot about the wheel lock, it's cracked the front wheel mudgard/fairing, it's got a hairline fracture/crack - so a little extra strong glue should suffice. All fun in owning a new toy!! Once again thanks all..
-
I just bought a set of titanium drill bits size 2mm and upwards for £18.00 - on the way home i sprayed copious amounts of WD40 on top and on the side ready for the morning. fingers crossed i won't need to drill. Thanks all for the advice, i feel like a novice.! BB

Do they sell these 'easy out' things at B&Q? I'm thinking i can nip there now in the car? BB
-
I have loads of torx bits but they just rounded the head even further, i should of took a photo so you can see and understand more clearly. The bolts hold the headlight into the main frame, they are a light silver/grey colour, very very light indeed, if that's any help BB

All i had to do was remove two bolts with a size 5 allen key and replace them with two new ones from the brand new windscreen i bought, simple huh? (not sure if you can swear here so i will refrain). JHChrist........... The first one came out with a struggle but it came out, the second, altogether different story allen key in place and snap the key rounded the head, i tried the next largest allen key that rounded the head even further, so now i am stuck with a rounded hole in the head of the bolt........ My options - to try tomorrow when I'm calm; 1. Knock a cross into the head and try to remove. 2. cut a notch then with the help of a hammer and flat head, smack it 3. Drill it out and re tap the hole - never done it so bit weary 4. Drive it to the bike shop and let them do it. I'm not an idiot when it comes to DIY, i know a job is easier with the right tools but i assumed (hmm) the right sized allen key would suffice.............. Any thoughts to get this bolt out? BB

Its like using cello-tape, it will stop the crack spreading and form a solid bond on the underside. If its a crack it should seal it and if its cleaned up sufficiently hide the crack (maybe)... BB

Do you work in advertising or sales by any chance? BB -
You could try some fibre glass strips with the hardening resin as a cheaper alternative. Maybe fix it on the underside to limit the disfigurement? I think they still sell the kits at Halfords etc. edit: I type slowly!! BB

Well after looking outside this morning and totally disagreeing with the MET office's report that it was torrential rain i took her out on a zigzag both directions (just a very hot sunny day) spin from Rochdale onto the A58 A629 back onto the A628 then onto the A6 stopped at the mini roundabout for left to Chesterfield right to Matlock and went back home. Used one and a bit fuel tanks and did a decent guess 120m took about 4 hours and got the feel of the bike, great fun. About 10 miles from home the service light came on so combining that with the faulty switch i phoned Aprilia dealers in Liverpool - where the bike was originally bought from, told them the problems and they want me to pop in to replace the switch/reset the digi readout for no charge as its still under warranty! Topping that with my son being two today overall its been a very nice day (excluding the aching back from new leathers) :) BB

No worries, yes I'm pressing the left mode, I've pressed everything in an attempt.. true it can't and won't stop me riding, no panic.. Still what a beautiful piece of motor engineering.. BB

I think your very attractive!! And if i was in better health with full eye sight in both eyes i would ask you out on a date! BB -
Nope, i tried it on all the different 'resettable' modes for the 2 3 5 10 seconds all failed to reset. I'm thinking there must be a failure in the button itself so it should be covered under the manufacturers warrenty? BB
-
Now that sounds like a decent ride. Thinking logically, i might 'skip' this meet so i can buy the necessary equipment to be able to enjoy an overnight stay as well as be safe on the bike. I'd really like to get up for the weekend but I cant justify the costs at the moment so i think i will have to bow out and get everything for the next event, pretty gutted as it would be good to meet all in my favourite place in the UK... BB

Oldgreg, i will try that again tomorrow, cheers. Will report back on the outcome. BB

Will that not affect the alarm? BB
