  1. The mod 2 was just like having a ride with a different instructor really (from the radio link point of view) seems a breeze looking back but time does have a way of distorting things somewhat... Even if it was only last year

    snaped spark plug

Sometimes you can tap a torx into it and get it out that way. Try plusgas as a releasing agent it's amazing stuff!
  3. Once you've got you're theory test outta the way you could pass DAS in just a few days if the test bookings are available with the right training. And it's a lot easier to find (and more versatile to have) a 'big' bike than a 125. I went the DAS route and I'm glad I did now even though I was scared of the idea of riding a 500 even after my cbt. The learning starts once you pass your test really, the rest is just getting you up to the minimum standard required to be let loose by yourself.
  4. Congrats it's great having that freedom and ability to just hop on a bike and go when u feel like rather than waiting for the next lesson! Enjoy
  5. Peugeot's of this age are notoriously bad for electrical problems and 306's are no exception. Check the loom and connections from body into door, make sure wires are undamaged and intact (I.e not bare or broken) and all plugs are free of corrosion. Check any earths that are in use. That's just a basic start, try a pug forum they might be able to help more. And good luck electrics can be a sod
  6. Big bike is direct access, Standard is 125cc
  7. Are you doing it on a 125 or Direct Access?
  8. I'd say just do a couple of lessons and get a bigger bike when you pass. Gears aren't hard to master at all, particularly if you already drive. If you already have experience on 2 wheels I reckon it shouldn't take much.
  9. It's not a test, it's Compulsory Basic Training which lasts for 2 years before you need to renew unless you pass your bike test in that time. All I can say is do it, best 90 quid I spent! And opened the door to getting my bike licence which I have since done. Also it will validate the moped licence entitlement you get when you pass your driving test if it was post 2001 (prior to that I believe the moped entitlement was automatically given as soon as you passed your driving test) giving you the legal right to ride a 50cc restricted to 30 mph if you choose to do so for the entire period of your driving licence
  10. Cbt, one day ride out/lesson on a 500cc, 4 weeks on a 50cc scoot (which I still have), then done a day lesson/ride out, mod 1 training (3 hours), mod 1, 3 hours test training and mod 2. All training done on a gs500 (apart from cbt on a cg125).

    crackcase leaking oil

Use some liquid metal in the hole then re-drill and tap
  12. A pass is a pass by 1% or 100% that's all that counts well done
  13. Don't put the poor girl off! More likely just break an arm or leg. In all seriousness it's easy and more bout confidence than skill
  14. Try passion automotive (google it), they have a few, I'm thinking of getting one myself from there (mainly car stuff, now doing bike stuff too by the looks of things) but great service always when I've used them
  15. Anythings possible.... But normally there's a reason why the size is picked for the bike and the entire set up is made to work together (the r&d isn't done overnight that's for sure). An extra 10mm isn't going to change the world on a ybr and change it's characteristics by much, maybe considering another bike would be a better option if you're not happy with the package? Plus ANY modifications should be declared to your insurer (and then you are at their mercy). If you don't and you crash it your insurance could potentially be invalid. Additional edit: reading thru it again sporty tyres are going to do not a lot for wet grip- sounds like a confidence barrier in adverse weather (I'm the same car or bike). Not much can help apart from experience and maybe some extra training IMO
  16. Weld, weld, weld and weld. Engine rebuild, the a series are tough as old boots but not the most long lived engine, so I'd say a least a good hone, set of rings and shells. Basically i think everything will need an overhaul. Good news is all the parts are really easy to find comparatively, its the English beetle and really well loved and supported.
  17. The mod 1 isn't too bad really it sounds like it's just nerves. I hadn't seen the test centre til my mod 1. Admittedly I failed the 1st time round but only due to a missed ob, all the manoeuvres came together fine on the day despite all my panic. At the end of the day if you don't pass it isnt the end of the world, it gives you a chance to see where you went wrong and try again when you feel ready.

    Breakdown!!

Was the batt charged fully before putting in? If not that could be ya problem and ya killed it. Alternatively the charging system is fooked, they would be my 2 guesses
  19. Checked the compression? Could be rebuild time
  20. Same here I can pull my scoot about like there's no tomorrow now! I'm pretty handy around a car but I still learned a thing or two
  21. You'll probably fail on missing an observation if you made no attempt at all depending on the examiner (it's a fail on mod 1 for sure)
  22. Ur the mate everyone needs but very few have, wish I had your skills!
  23. Just ride around, angled start from behind a vehicle, hill start, junctions and roundabouts etc. No u turn or emergency stop to worry about. Just treat it like a ride out with directions, you'll be fine
