  1. Alan: The can sits too high, its pressed hard against the hanger which is why its not sitting flush where it connects to the exhaust pipe, so the hanger needs to be about probably 1" higher and the bolt hole on the can is is about 3" further forward than the bolt hole on the hanger. Will try and get measurements later, absolutely chucking it down atm Stu: thats what I am hoping to do, have looked before at getting a different hanger so I could get rid of the pillion pegs as they'll never get used. Would keep them though for selling bike even though with that exhaust system on I'm not sure they'd be usable
  2. Managed to get a replacement exhaust that fitted for cheaps on ebay (from a k4 thou), arrived today. Connection is fine, of course back end of a srad not the same as the k4 and so footpeg/hanger doesn't line up. http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/424800_10151367080800065_704695064_23209319_1646903548_n.jpg http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/429838_10151367080655065_704695064_23209318_992615920_n.jpg http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/s720x720/429755_10151367080505065_704695064_23209317_1535453017_n.jpg Its just one thing after another.
  3. When you are asked to pull over check it is safe to do so, then indicate then maneuver. Same when you are moving out again, do not indicate until you have checked that the road is clear and it is safe to go. (although the road is clear the examiner still counts therefore you need to indicate).
  4. Pretty much as it says on the tin! If you are signed up for the Honda newsletter there is a link to a page to enter all your details for a code which you take along to your local dealer on the launch weekend for a guaranteed prize. If anyone would like the link I can PM it
  5. Thanks very much
  6. Thank you I don't know why the exhaust is not standard, I assume it was an upgrade at some point as I think its stainless steel. The guy I got it from didn't say it was not standard although he'd only had the bike 6months so probably the previous owner that did it. The measurements between the two top bolts is 50mm, the side bolts is 67mm and the inlet is 65mm (that is the width of the opening in the end of the end can, it then steps back about 5mm and in to 57mm). http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/DSC00310Medium.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/DSC00311Medium.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/DSC00313Medium.jpg Hopefully I have measured these right!
  7. '98 gsxr 600, new sleeve option was mentioned on original thread. Cost is an issue so I am trying to consider all possible options hence this new thread to find out what exhausts will fit as I might be able to get a cheap standard exhaust for another bike.
  8. Further to my other thread about my broken exhaust, my next question is- having discovered that the full length of the exhaust and not just the end can is not standard- how do I find out what end cans will fit my exhaust? The standard for my bike is a 3 bolt fitting, mine is 4. Is the 4 bolt fitting standard? Or will it be different for all bikes with a 4 bolt exhausts? If different, what measurements do I need to check? Apparently the newer gsxrs have a 4bolt fitting so I am hoping that maybe a standard newer one might fit. Having spent some time searching through ebay it seems that 99% of listings only say what bike the exaust will fit and not what type of fitting it has, and very few show the exhaust from any other angle than side on so its hard to even be able to tell if its 3 or 4 bolt without asking. Ta, Gayle
  9. Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I am not sure what to do next, was hoping to get the bike back on the road quickly and cheaply so will have to weigh up all the options and decide what is best. Will start another thread asking how to find out what exhaust fits! On another note, my new indicators arrived this morning and I don't think they match the existing ones
  10. My neighbours are absolute f*cking scum. We live in flats, its a private residential development in a nice part of Bonnybridge. We own our flat but most people rent from landlords. The buildings were only built in 2007. Before we had 2 bikes parked in our space we constantly had problems with people parking in our space, despite there being more than enough guest spaces available and all the allocated parking being marked. Even when we had just one bike in the space we STILL had problems with people parking in our space!!! Despite there being a bike parked at the back of it!!! Our space is one of only a few that is directly across from the pavement instead of other places, we regularly struggle to get into our space due to people parking straight across from it- despite there being around 10 free guest spaces. One of our neighbours has an oil leak on their car, every time it rains (for the last year or so) the road looks like this: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/IMG_0970Medium.jpg We obviously have a communal bin shed, there is one wheely bin per flat. The bins were emptied on weds, most of them are completely empty yet there is one at the front already overflowing because people are too f*cking lazy to walk an extra few feet to put their rubbish in an empty one. This happens constantly. For a while there was constantly used nappies and female sanitary products all over the floor. Nice. On several occasions there has been furniture etc dumped next to the bin shed (on the grass) and left for months. I have called environmental health more than once, unfortunately unless there is evidence of who left it there is nothing they can do. Its not cheap to live here, so why do people pay all that money to live in a 'nice' area like this only to treat it like the local bloody skip? The factors (Life Property Management) are completely useless. They are simply not interested. I love this flat, but I hate living here.
  11. Ok, the length between end caps is 460mm, total length inc end caps 465mm, diameter is 104mm at the narrow bit and 138mm at the wide bit. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/DSC00309Medium.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/DSC00308Medium.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/DSC00306Medium.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/DSC00305Medium.jpg
  12. Ok, someone on the gsxr forum has given me a link to this 'Pj Engineering' who sell replacement 'tubes', so i think I just whip the old broken one off and pop the new one on? :/ My plan for just buying a standard replacement is out the window as I have discovered within the last ten minutes that the bit of exhaust where the silencer attaches to is not standard. You'd think I'd have noticed that in all the pictures its black but mine is shiney. Nope. More importantly, the standard silencer attaches with 3 bolts, mine takes 4 :/ Alan- I don't think we can deal with rivets I will get the measurements in a mo....
  13. This will be the first time I've ever had a bike MOT'd so I don't know! Someone on the gsxr forum has suggested that as long as the exhaust isn't blowing it'll pass like that Even if so, not sure I'd fancy riding around with such a big tear in it, don't want to be riding along then next minute half m exhaust is trailing along the road Ian: Its cracked open, the insides aren't damaged I don't think its just the outer 'case'. Apparently you can buy a replacement wrap to go round it but googling for this has only brought up sort of narrow tape stuff :/
  14. As some of you know, my bike has been MOT-less since October. The reason for this is there were a few things needing done that we could do ourselves and as I was expecting the same snow as winter 2010/2011 I wasn't to bothered about getting it done in any hurry. The weather is starting to improve and I am wanting a roadworthy bike. I had planned to get the few things sorted out this weekend and get it MOT'd during the week. So, the first thing that needs sorted is dodgy indicator connection. Sorted that and the LHS rear bulb went. Unfortunately the screw heads have rounded off so we can't get the front off to replace the bulb. It only has on those cheap aftermarket fake carbon fibre mini ones on so best solution is new ones. However, this means no MOT til they arrive. Next thing is new horn, new horn has been bought and tested however the problem is the old horn is stuck fast. We have tried several times over the last few months to remove the old one, inc leaving it soaked in WD-40 a few times but to no avail. Drillng not an option as we have no cordless drill. Hopefully the garage will be able to remove it otherwise the new one will just have to get stuck elsewhere. Third thing. This is one that I only noticed today and it the main reason for the post subject. My exhaust is cracked. It must have happened a few months back when the bike was in getting new brakes fitted and it blew over in the wind. I inspected the exhaust at the time as it was slightly scratched and didn't notice but the bike hasn't moved since. The exhaust holder has obviously been knocked when its fallen over resulting in the exhaust being pushed into the hanger which has torn it. I am guessing I already know the answer to this, but I can't afford a pretty new exhaust right now so I'm asking anyway... is there any chance at all that my exhaust is salvagable?! I'd have to replace it with a standard one off ebay but a black exhaust looks soooo much better on my black and red bike http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/DSC00288Medium.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/DSC00293Medium.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/DSC00300Medium.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/DSC00296Medium.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/DSC00297Medium.jpg
  15. Bring It All Home - Gerry Rafferty remembered on Radio 2 Its just not the same
  16. Why was that odd? You probably didn't come last. I suffer from equal disappointment every time I don't win the lottery
  17. Last year I came 40,000th odd
  18. We went last year and it was great, they raised over £7000 for CHAS Pics from last year here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=38006 Even if you happen to be a bikeless at the time, its worth going just to hear aaaaaall those bikes when its time to head off http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/424309_10151285720265065_704695064_22939836_662849586_n.jpg
  19. Requested to be added
  20. If I can make it'll only be saturday, forgot we have a photography thing on the Sunday! Bike still has no mot though so its not looking good tbh, few things I need to sort before it goes in but lack of garage + constant bad/cold weather means we don't have much chance to get anything done
  21. Falkirk wheel is about 5minutes from me, so maybe catch up on the way back down around there
  22. Still can't confirm atm, if I can go its likely either day will be fine. Will continue to keep an eye on the thread
  23. We've been to the last two, last year wasn't very good but the year before was much better so hopefully this year will be good again! Will probably go both days Remember to order your tickets in advance peeps- cheaper than buying them on the door and less queueing to get in!
  24. I was recommended to try RSBikepaint.com for getting matching paint for my bike, according to them you are looking for 'Pearl Suzuki Deep Blue'.
