They should be good enough mate. Just make sure it's correct grade oil for your bike, not fully synth if semi is recommended. Standard air filters are best to refit . Don't buy a high flow air filter or you may need to rejet the carb/ s
  4. Sorry mate, can't get that far with my dodgy knees. I can do summat down my way though?
  5. You need to adjust it so that the SAG is right, ie it drops about 25 to 35mm when you sit on it. If too low it will be too soft and may bottom out on a bump. If too hard it will be a bit lively on bumpy roads. You just have to adjust it and try it
  6. Bit different on the track mate. I have spoken to a few tyre fitters and they all say take it steady with new tyres. One guy rode home on the motorway and then binned it when he went through the twisties. I'll stick to 50/100 mile scrubbing in.
  7. Loadsa training schools mate, just gotta find a good one, peferably recommended. If I'm off , I'll always ride with ya?
  8. If it's similar to my old one, turn the pre load adjusteruntil the compression on the spring increases ie the adjuster has more metal under the bit where the cam touches the detent plate. If you can post a piccy that would help? Basically if it becomes harder to turn , the preload is increasing. I have a manual in my garage if you need any more help

    Brake problem?

Yes 777GT, you have a sticking piston or two. It's important not to just push the piston back in as the crud on it will damage the seals. Take pads out, pump pistons out about 10mm, clean crud off and polish piston. Push back in, if not an easy push, strip caliper, clean everything, replace seals, apply Red Rubber grease to seals, push piston back in, replace pads, put back on disc and bleed.
  10. I ride steady for a few miles and gradually up my speed and lean angle on dry roads. The tyres need scrubbing in because of the release agent in the rubber. Some people think you can ride fast on the motorway and that's enough. NO IT AIN'T!!!! You need to ride as fast as you dare on a really bendy road, gradually increasing the lean angle , so that the whole tyre gets hot. I usually give it 50 to 100 miles of scrubbing in before I really nail it. You can't scrub it in the rain as it can't get hot and will be really slippy.
  11. Had a vr2 once, don,t think Sharp test was good. Two stars, I think. Got a Shoei now.
  12. I bought Sidi Vertigo, second hand, 75quid off eBay. Make sure they have ankle protection.
  13. Good pix those, but I'd like to see em bigger? Got any more?
  14. I,ll have a look, see if I,ve still got mine somewhere?
  15. I used to have a gadget that you screwed in to replace the sparkplug. Clear glass, so you could see the spark with it,s own tube and mirror. Colortune, made by carbtune. A nice blue colour indicated the right mixture on tickover.
  16. I,ve got an early gixxer 750 engine that,s just been rebuilt?
  17. Is that a water cooled motor or an oil boiler? Pix would help?
  18. I am a little bit dubious that you will get carbs and valves done for £80. Perhaps they meant the valve clearances checked only. Adjusting clearances is a whole different job. Good luck with it anyway
  19. Why not checkout the water pump for leaks by removing it and filling with hot coolant and putting a bit of pressure on it? Disconnect hose from radiator to pump, top it up and see what happens at Sump plug.?
  20. Valve clearance checks and carb balance are easy mate. Valves are easy to check with feeler gauges, reshimming needs a bit more thought. Carb balancing is easy with a set of 50 quid gauges. If you decide to do either I can talk you through it. As already said a Hayes manual is your friend.
  21. If you have drain screws on the carb bowls, open em and have a look at the fuel, could be crap in them. If there, spray some brake cleaner in and hope that the crap drains out or you may need to clean the carbs
  22. I,d be up for that mate. Can,t travel very far though. Romney Marsh, Beachy Head areas best for me.
  23. Personally I used to strap a tailpack or tank bag top piece to my rear seat. Got a plastic cover now, wich looks nice. biu I cant strap the tailpack to it.
  24. Bought one from Aldi or Lidl a while ago. Should come around again soon. You can buy em from the Chemist I think, or get stung at the bike shops
