  1. No laughing from me Ben, hats off to you guys and good luck, hope the weather is kind to you.
  2. My leather jacket has one built in. My one piece does not so I use a Knox Contour when wearing that.
  3. Bugger susie, would have been good to meet up. I would have been rushing around after finishing my tea and getting ready to be out by 7.30 so I gave it a miss. If next week is as good, weather wise I`ll make sure I`m there.
  4. Great pictures and sounds like a fantastic ride out. The more I read and hear about Scotland ride outs the more I want to go.
  5. Rutland Water for me as it`s the nearest and a good ride to get there. It may also attract a few more from down South to come along.
  6. May well do. I`ll have to leave at 7.30 though, domino`s season has started and I`m in the team
  7. Mate, I commute every day and have done for the past 5 years. I`ve yet to find a decent pair of over trousers that keep dry in the crotch region. I wear leathers and they are NOT even shower proof, so don`t think that. I do have Richa leather jacket that claims to be shower proof but if it pours down then no luck. I also have a textile jacket which I brought for winter riding but this is worse than the leather one. Boots need to be waterproof, and buying sport boots will not usually keep your feet dry. If you only have summer gloves, stick some of them thin latex gloves underneath (like what mechanics wear now days) They won`t stop the gloves getting wet but will keep your hands dry and warmer. Basically, don`t wear what you need to be in all day under your bike gear, change into something dry at work and stick the wet stuff on a radiator for the trip home.
  8. I`ll be there. Lucky, what bike do you ride and how will we recognise you ???. I`m off line after posting this but if you want to text me, go to the contacts section for my number. Know who you are now Lucky
  9. See you there Bob, I`m going to the demo. Meeting at Brampton Hut at 12.00. I may then go on for a ride, but I have to check with my mates I`ve just been on holiday with, wether we`re meeting at the pub.
  10. Yes Joe. I had mine done at a local cobblars and it cost me 20quid (no pound signs on Turkish keyboards
  11. Wether you pass in a week or a year, you`ll still have those first few days/weeks on a bike out on the open road, so you`ll be learning from day one, either before or after the test. I did the lot within a month, I passed first time but even after 5 years riding I`m still learning different things from different people about different situations. Get it done mate and start to enjoy your biking.
  12. Me too, but I think I might wait until next year. Let us know if you do booke anything and I`ll have a think.
  13. I was at the moment in time......posing for the camera.
  14. Great 1 piece suit which I purchased as a birthday prezzie to myselfe 2 years ago. Leather is thick and to be honest was very stiff at first especially around the back of the knees, I had to wear something under it even on the hottest of days as it chaffed the back of my legs. Well worn in now and a lot more supple. Fit is a bit tight around the croch if you`re a tallish person but when riding (which is why you wear it) it`s very comfy. I got the size 44 which is a little bigger than I usually go for but with the full back protector on it fits OK around the chest. Personally I think it looks great too but the best thing is, I feel safer in it for some daft reason.
  15. Saturday 3rd September was a day I took the Speed Triple for a test ride and to say it was great is a big understatement. Wethare was great and the roads were dry and I had the bike booked out for an hour. Firstly the riding position was good, pretty much upright and felt a bit like a traylie. I was warned it was a wheely machine so gentle acceleration was called for and with a bit of leaning froward I managed to pull away from lights and junctions preety quickly but smoothly. The pick up on it was very quick. The engine noise was throaty and sounded great. Cornering was easy as counter steering the more straight bars (as opposed to the ones on my gixer) seemed easier for me (perhaps because of my bad neck and shoulders ) I know why its called a speed triple, I took it out onto the Thorney bypass and opened it up. I looked down as was doing a heafty speed without realising. (not given for obvious reasons) I then went onto some fen roads to test the suspension which I must say felt firm but very giving onb the bumpy roads. I took out the non ABS version but the brakes were great, having to do a quick stop due to some knob pulling out in front of me. Think I`ll get the ABS version if I do go down this route All in all I must say I am very much tempted. The only down point was that it was RED and not black
  16. When my jacket zip broke I took it along to a sadlers. They were the only people I could find that could stich leather. The very nice lady replaced the zip for £25 which was a hell of a lot cheaper than the £40 quoted by a bike gear repair shop.
  17. Brought this about 18 months ago when I had an insurance payout. Paid £369 for it and to be honest it is better than the RX-7 I had before. Reasonable low noise when all the vents are shut but obviously a bit noisier when all of the 5 vents are open. Two in the head, one in the chin and two at the top of the visor to get through flow past the face. Great fitting helmet with no movement, snug and works really well with an added breath gaurd. Never fogged up due to pinlock visor. After 18 months no pongy sweaty smells, this must be down to the anti bacterial lining thingy. Marks out of 10, I`d give it a 9. Dropped a point on noise.
  18. I`m gonna do it again one night mate, providing we can find somewhere to tie the tow rope Busy tonight though. Have a good un
  19. Flying out to Turkey on the following Monday so may not be able to go opn the Sunday, too many last minute jobs to do and I don`t want to have to rush around. May still go on the Saturday though iof I`m well organised.
  20. Great first bike, purchased in August 2006 having just passed my test. Paid about 6K for it I think brand new. Good solid bike and held the road well, felt comfortable for a first bike and was definately very reliable, never let me down once. Did 29k mile in 20 months before moving onto the 1250 Bandit. The ABS brakes worked fantastic when having to amke some emergency stops due to numpties in cars pulling out. Highly recommend for a first time biker that wants to use it for commuting, leisure and general ride outs.
  21. Didn`t make it last night, guts were playing up a bit so decided to duck out. What was the turn out like ???
  22. Sorry Ian, no can do this sunday. Other plans have just kicked in. Have a good ride out whatever you do
  23. May well do Ian, will let you know nearer the time as I may have a "bit of a do" on Sunday. I`ll text you if I`m about.
