  1. Amateurs We got three out: Roy, Cat and me. I think Tango, Ollie and Lou had to get out three a breast as well.
  2. Bank holiday weekend please! Already got it booked off Don't mind lakes or north Wales, did some bloody lovely roads across there earlier this year. Started Shrewsbury and went to Ffestiniog for lunch and back. Got all the route saved if you're interested
  3. Consider what weather you're likely to be out in as well. Textiles will offer better weather protection than leathers broadly speaking. But even when in textiles I always take my waterproof over layers for when it's really chucking it down!
  4. I have a top box so might not be the most helpful information but I do a sleeping bag in one pannier, a pillow in the other, self inflating sleeping mat and the tent strapped to the back seat with rok-straps. For tents I've always liked Vango. Used to have the 3 man Tempest which was fantastically light and packed small, now we've got the Omega 3 man as it's got a decent sized porch for all our gear.
  5. Get the one that fits. A well fitting £70 lid will give you much better protection than an ill fitting £400 Arai. Go to the shop, try them all. If it doesn't fit it's off the list. All lids sold have to meet a certain standard. Check the sharp site for further info, you'd be surprised how some cheaper helmets can still get 5* ratings. Not to say don't get Arai or Shoei, if they fit then they offer the best longevity, noise reduction etc, just don't write off all the others. To stop misting I swear by a Pinlock insert. Most of the big names have them already but you can always get one for whatever lid you get Fingers crossed you never need it
  6. They've been saying he's on his way back to the track to try but he needs everyone at the track to sign him fit too. He didn't take part in qualifying. He'd have to take part in warm up in the morning to be able to race tomorrow
  7. Sounds perfectly normal and fully understandable to me I had an off on the right hand side on a roundabout when I was on CBT and I noticed for a while after I was more hesitant leaning it right than left. If you've come off twice when leaning right then I'm not surprised if the hesitation is twice as much. Just don't let it wind you up to the point you let it get worse rather than better.
  8. L plates and then a cross through it with black insulating tape You think the car drivers will look close enough to see the cross?
  9. Love Trapt, Only Through the Pain is still one of my absolute favourite albums
  10. er, get a raw sausage, poke a hole down the middle with a skewer, then pump water through it, see how good an aim YOU are! (or just try with Ollie woo) The aim would be alright if it reliably came out in a straight line but you just never know what angle it's going to start at.
  11. Tip I was given. When you've got the fairing off put the bolt from the crash bung in the hole, put a dollop of paint on the bolt head and then put the fairing on. There will then be a nice print on the inside of the fairing where the hole needs to be I was quite happy to drill the holes in my fairings but on the VFR you have to change the coolant reservoir (since that sits right where the crash bung wants to go) and then they sit on a ruddy great bar that goes all the way across the frame through one of the engine bolt holes so when the instructions involved draining the entire coolant and unbolting the engine I chickened out and asked the garage to do it at the next MOT I'd say they were well worth it though, only have to drop it once and they've paid for themselves.
  12. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=45492 Bunch of us off here meeting up in a pub, getting pissed, sleeping in a field, maybe a rideout on the Saturday, back to the pub, getting pissed, dressing in silly costumes...
  13. If you like Karnivool, Moo, check out Akord. New Scottish group just getting started along the same lines, list Karnivool as big influence and I can see it ">
  14. This junction on my way home. I'm approaching from this angle, aiming and indicating to turn left when my spidey senses start tingling, the silver picasso coming from my right is in the wrong position on the road to be following it round towards me. Without indicating or indeed looking to see if anyone was coming from my side it launched across the road onto the road I was heading up, involving my stamping on the brakes as hard as I could and missing her by about a foot!
  15. No, you can go straight in for the 400 test at 19, you don't have to do them all in turn. 2 years after you've passed the 400 you can take the 600 test to get full licence regardless of age. And your theory will be fine, the tests themselves haven't changed any (yet)
  16. You know we do, Stu
  17. That's the one, Craig. I was on that road the previous day!
  18. Waterproof is good and I started off looking at a box rather than a cradle as it only has to rattle itself loose at 70*COUGH*mph on the motorway once... If you get something like Tango's just given you the link to then you can get a charger plug in but only the small ones. A lot of the third party chargers have much bigger connectors than the original Apple ones, Apple go for form over function but the wire isn't held as well in the connector (I have an iPhone and 2 charger leads mummified in gaffa tape to try and keep them together but the case I have for my phone has a very specific sized opening for the original charger plug as well) Look up powerlink, they do a waterproof USB socket and associated iPhone lead that is the right size to fit in those cases. If you don't have a convenient bar to mount that to look at RAM mounts, they do a brilliant range of kit to mount them on your bike.
  19. Have they rebuilt the Selkirk-Moffat road now then? Loved it when I was there earlier this year but there was a photo put on FB the following morning where it had collapsed
  20. https://www.gov.uk/driving-test-cost You will need to redo your CBT (£100 ish) and do a theory test (£31) before you can sit your tests Mod 1 is £15.50 Mod 2 is £75 on a weekday, £88.50 on weekends To do A2 the bike you sit your tests on has to be at least 395cc which you're not allowed to ride on your own without an instructor in contact with you so if you're looking at doing it with a school you've got bike hire cost to factor in as well as how many lessons they think you need. A1 is the 125 test you're allowed to sit at 17 but you're only allowed to ride a 125 after passing it. To do full licence it's 24 or 2 years after passing A2, whichever happens sooner
  21. Friday everyone turns up, pitches up, gets pissed. Saturday there's ride outs during the day and then fancy dress piss up in the evening, no prizes or anything, just look as daft as possible Susieque and Rennie run karaoke, singing optional, even with mic in hand. Sunday rock on home. There'll be more than enough bikes at the site if you want to leave your bike there
  22. The "at least 395" refers to the size of bike you have to sit the test on. When you've passed your test you can have any size you like, of course you can have a 125 if you want. You don't even have to have any bike at all for those 2 years, it's just 2 years later you're allowed to do your test again on the big bike.
