  1. Would YOU want it back after that?
  2. Don't look at the lines, that's where you'll go
  3. Someone else goes to Ducati and realises they're not going to listen to a single thing the rider says or wants. Glad he's getting a decent ride, I think a good ride would do him and his general mood good, we don't see anything of the same fun Cal pinching Matt Roberts' passport this year. So where's Bradl going?
  4. Have you looked at/done anything to the fuel tap? Chira's ER5 had a sticky needle and the fuel tap both go. End result was fuel tank emptied itself into the carbs, into that cylinder, into the airbox, into the sump... onto the garage floor... Left it completely open to dry: Sump plug out, oil filter off (and in the bin!), crank shaft end cover off, plugs out... Carb clean and a new fuel tap, plugs, oil and filters and running fine again now
  5. Did he only put the second battery to the starter motor? Was it then up to the bike itself to power all the electrics? If all the lights are flickering like that it's something electric. Knackered carbs or plugs won't make it do that, the lights will all be on, just the engine itself won't Is the battery charged? Is it charging when the bike's running? I'm thinking reg/rec most likely. And a friendly nudge to not turn it off on the kill switch. You might one day turn it off on the kill switch and leave the key in as you walk away and your bike goes walkabout
  6. Computer monitor or lizard monitor?
  7. Happy birthday Steve Have a fab day mate
  8. Happy birthday Ian, have a good'un

    bike cut out

Yeah, sounds electric to me. I'd say reg/rec would be the first thing to check but as Bob said, at that age get the dealer to check it
  10. Go to Rockingham then, it's a left handed track There's only ... 3 left handers on Cadwell?
  11. ACU is Auto-Cycle Union, the central organiser for all things bike racing in this country http://www.acu.org.uk/ If you want to race you need to do a licence test with them, organised through tracks and track day companies. £140 ish if you start with a licence, I think it's in the £200 region if you haven't got a bike licence for the extra assessments needed. If you don't have a road licence (and check, some companies specify unrestricted licence) then you need an ACU licence to show you're safe on track. Some places will let you hire bikes but they're usually daft silly money.
  12. Absolutely love it. It's a really good size for us, Farmyard is fun but it's so big it almost loses that personal touch but it's that bit bigger and livelier than the smaller ones. Size can be weather dependent though. 2012 was much smaller 'coz the field was too wet to get half the stuff on (or off in the case of the wheelie machine guys but that was an hour's entertainment all on it's own ) Two tents of music and they get bloody good bands on there. Toseland are playing this year which I'm gutted to be missing, at a biker rally that's going to be rammed and such a buzz. There's only two fields you can camp in and they're much of a muchness to be honest, nothing's far from either the main site or the castle itself (with a couple of bars in if you fancy). If you're going with anyone find somewhere big enough to get you all together, or if they're there first get them to hold you a spot. The further you are from the main site the less likely you are to get tripped over in the middle of the night but the further you've got to stagger yourself. The water supply in the right hand field is beyond the hedge line at that entrance to the main site, I don't know for the left one. Don't go too close to bogs Don't know what else I can say. Hope that's answered something, at least.
  13. We're not going this year but it's one of our absolute favourites, what you trying to find out?
  14. Happy birthday Mandy :bday: Have a good day
  15. Check with your instructor but I'd say you should be left foot down as your right should be using the rear brake. I don't know how serious an error it will be but you're ignoring a brake which would be marked down for stopping power. But locking the rear wheel up is at least a minor if you correct it quick but a fail if you leave it locked too long.
  16. First steps you need to do are CBT and a theory test. You can do these in either order. The theory test you have to do at specific test centres which aren't where the actual tests are held. I held a car driving licence for 13 years before I did my bike test, I had to do a theory test for my car licence but still had to do another one for the bike test. There are bike specific questions on it so make sure you book the right one! CBT you do with a school, usually takes a day. You need a theory test certificate and a CBT certificate to show to the examiners to take mod 1. You need all three to take mod 2. You can get mod 1 and 2 on the same day if you book carefully but you have to pay for both and if you fail mod 1 in the morning you can't take your mod 2 in the afternoon and lose the money. Quite a few schools offer intensive courses that take a week. On the Monday you do your CBT and then they'll book mod 1 and mod 2 for you for the Friday. If you do these then obviously make sure you've sorted the theory test first. I did a lesson a week with the school I went to. We booked mod 1 when I was ready and when I passed that we booked mod 2, I think there was about a month between them in the end. There are three "levels" of licence you can get now: A1 means you take the mod 1 and mod 2 tests on a 125 bike. You can take this test at 17. If you pass you can ride a 125. A2 means you take the mod 1 and 2 tests on a 400cc bike. You can take this test at 19. If you pass you can ride a bike up to 47bhp. You can restrict bigger bikes down to this but not if it started with more than 94bhp A means you take the tests on a 600cc bike. You take this test at 24 or 2 years after passing A2, whichever happens sooner. When you pass this you can ride any size/power bike you like.
  17. Theory: multiple choice questions about the Highway Code Mod 1: first part of the actual test. This is all the slow control, figure of 8, slalom, U turn etc Mod 2: second part of the test. Ride out on the road with the examiner following you You don't have to do mod 1 and 2 at the same time. There was a good month between mine CBT allows you to ride a 125 with L plates. No motorway, no pillion

  19. I did an hour lesson a week rather than the intensive course. Much preferred doing it that way as I had the week to practice what I'd been taught rather than pay the instructor to sit having a fag watching me wobble round the site Meant there was no pressure either, put in for the tests when I was ready rather than having the test date and having to be ready by then whether I was ready or not. I had 2 or 3 lessons on site on the 125 5 or 6 on the road on the 125 until they'd covered everything when I was then presented with the choice of doing the test on the 125 (old licence laws) or doing DAS and then going onto the 500 2 lessons on site on the 500 2 or 3 on the road on the 500 2 learning all the bits for mod 1 1 doing a complete mock mod 1 Then we put in for mod 1 and I went and passed it. 2 or 3 more on the road/mock mod 2 before the test. Passed both first time because I didn't put in for them until I was ready and I was comfortable to do so. The worry for me would be with the week's intensive course you've got the tests on Friday and that's always looming. If you're not ready you either fail it and lose your money or don't go and lose your money.
  20. Happy birthday Dave Have a good day
  21. Sorry to hear Bob Thoughts with you
  22. There's a theory test in there as well to consider. If you do intensive week course starting from nothing the CBT will be your first day. You need CBT certificate and a theory certificate to take your test. Is your a Portugese licence? That might raise another question about do you have to change it for a UK one?
