    Chain came off

Is the chain consistent all the way round? Did you happen to adjust it to an incredibly tight spot and that made it far too loose somewhere else?
  2. Good luck and have fun Relax Listen to what you're being told Look where you want the bike to go Doesn't matter if you rev the nuts off it, the clutch can take it and you need to keep the revs up to help manoeuvering. Relax Enjoy

    Brake cleaning

Look up Oval Motorcycle Centre, they do basic maintenance course evenings which I found absolutely brilliant (be warned, my evening turned into a 1:30 finish although central London traffic is much nicer at that time than rush hour!) and they're always there to take your bike to do the work on.
  4. Lovely lovely Not jealous at all (but I'm Canon-ist ) What speed's the 150-500? I've looked at the push-me-pull-you Canon 100-400 and it's just not very quick for a very lot of money
  5. Correct, absolutely spot on. A lot more braking force on the front which is why we're then told to use ~70% front. Weight goes off the rear so you get less braking ability on the rear and can lock it up easier (which is a fail if you do that on mod 1, for information ) Also comes to the point on emergency braking you should apply progressively to give the suspension the chance to settle the weight and the tire to grip rather than grab a handful and put more braking force through the tire than the grip is ready to handle. With mountain bike experience you'll have most of this down already The bias you're taught in lessons for your test is 50:50 in the wet

    Chain cleaner

Well.. I do first clean WD40 on a cloth, then brake cleaner, then a good lube. WD40 removes the crap, brake cleaner removes the film left by the WD40 and evaporates completely dry then lube it back up again.
  7. I got pic has been removed on Spire's latest post
  8. I'm a Marushin head, the generic pinlock I got when I first got the lid was too tall, fouled the seals at both top and bottom of the visor at the same time. At the time I got a new visor and pinlock from racevisors but I can't see them on there at the moment. Which marushin visor does yours take? On mine there's a little sticker top left of the visor. Worth doing a search for "Marushin pinlock" with the visor code number? visorshop.com seem to have some in.
  9. Been there, done that. If it came out on the first squeeze then yes, the pistons were so far out and the pads must have been so far down they needed doing. Now you get to learn how to service calipers It's not difficult. Take all the pistons out, clean them up. Take the knackered seals out (should be 2 in each hole) and clean the calipers up. Give the new seals a soak in new brake fluid for a couple of minutes and slip them back in. Pistons back in. New fluid in the system, bleed, Robert's your mother's brother.
  10. +1 You've got more time than you realise to do your mod1. Don't let the examiner rush you 'coz he wants to get off for another fag and a cuppa Take your time. Sit and visualise every manoeuvre before you start it. Look at your route, see yourself doing it. Breathe. Shoulder check, in gear, shoulder check, shoulder check (just in case ), go
  11. Check the pads. In an ideal world the brake fluid level in the reservoir only goes down as the pads do, when you change the pads and push the pistons back all the fluid comes back up the system into the reservoir. This isn't an ideal world but check that before just throwing more in or you're in for a nasty shock when you do
  12. Yaaay, conga rats What bike you getting then? *nudgenudgewinkwink*
  13. People called Romanus they go the house?
  14. Skidmarx do good screens at fairly reasonable prices
  15. Good luck Ollie Let us know how you get on
  16. Hi and welcome to TMBF. Pop over to Newbies and say hi to everyone as well Yes you can sit your unrestricted test 2 years after passing your A2, there's no requirement to show you've been riding for those 2 years at all. But will you be able to have a licence for 2 years and not use it at all? On A2 you wouldn't be able to get a 600RR and restrict it, it's 47bhp but the bike can't have started with more than twice that which means nothing more than 95 which I reckon was quite deliberate since all the 600 sports put out just over 100. You've got those 2 years there though so ride for those 2 years anyway just to get some experience and miles under your belt so you're not jumping straight onto a supersports for your first bike, they're that bit trickier to ride. You'll have 2 years no claims saved up as well which will help with the insurance on an RR at 22
  17. Assuming your CBT is still in date? You need theory and then do your test. For DAS the test is taken on a 600cc bike and there are 2 parts: Part one is the slow speed control round the cones in the car park bit, costs £15.50 (plus if you've gone through a school their bike and instructor hire) Part 2 is the ride round the roads with an examiner behind. £75 during the week, £88.50 (plus bike blah blah) Don't have to take both on the same day (I had 2 weeks between mine) With DAS you can then ride anything you like. Not at all, I did an hour a week on Saturday afternoons for a few months and far preferred doing it that way, meant I had a week to practice what I'd been taught on the Saturday and didn't end up paying the instructor full time when half the time he's stood having a fag watching me wobble round the car park Whereabouts are you? Might be someone near you can give you school recommendations if you haven't got one in mind already?
  18. No, Apple and Google fell out quite spectacularly which is why we now have the running joke that is Apple maps. Accessing the google maps web page is better than the google maps app but I don't think it'll let you have turn by turn instructions that way. I've got Navigon app on mine. TYRE can speak to it but you need the pro subscription which I haven't got but it's on the list when the sun comes out to see how well it works out
  19. The visor itself could be a slightly different shape, doesn't take much You should have a couple of screws on the mounting plate where the visor attaches that you can loosen off and move so the visor makes a proper seal again
  20. Aww shit, sorry Fozz Thoughts with you and family
