    clutch advice

do you have the manufacturers specified amount of freeplay on the lever...if not , you may need to adjust the cable from the bottom end... your manual should explain how
  2. back brake is essential for really low speed stability... so yes, use it
  3. theres no way you're going to want to go home after just one session its a little bit addictive
  4. yeah, don't load yourself up with caffeine, it will just make you jittery...relax, eat properly, and try to enjoy it
  5. advanced training also requires you to be competent at u turning and other tight manoeuvres without putting feet down. something im still trying to talk myself into , as I prefer not to
  6. drop to 1st on the approach, then you have the option to stop or not, and use back brake to stabilise the bike, then if you are stopping you should eliminate the wobble. as the others have said, just take your time , and stop if your more comfortable that way while you build confidence

    Wiring in a switch

did an inline switch for my heated grips... if they are wired directly from the battery theres a chance they will drain slowly... couldn't be arsed with figuring out how to wire them into an ignition relay... so just used a simple inline switch
  8. buy the stands one at a time... £30 ones do the job just fine. also I bought the smaller Halfords pro socket set, which covers most job, then got a separate bit which converts the drive size, and buy each bigger socket as and when I need it.... doesn't break the bank in one go, but over time you end up with everything you need, and good quality stuff
  9. and I have a pair of reasonably cheap paddock stands... but they do the job just fine...as long as you don't mind doing up the bolts every now and then...next item on the wish list is definitely an abba stand though
  10. my personal choice would be renthal sprockets, and tsubaki chain, but DID is also a very good make. torque wrench and socket set , I would go with Halfords pro range. paid stupidly lots for my torque wrench, but its made a world of difference to what jobs I can actually manage... and my favourite has to be my extendable breaker bar...absolute lifesaver
  11. and further training after DAS will completely turn that on its head
  12. I put Pirelli diablos on my thundercat , really liked them
  13. +1 for the having lots of racer chums who wont touch focused with a very long barge pole. did a transponder day with them last year at donnington, sharing a garage with 10 mates who hold ACU licences, and to say the air was blue for most of the day would be an understatement. no limits are supposed to be bloody brilliant, but focused couldn't run a piss up in a brewery
  14. my 2 penneth, if you're having to constantly look at the speedo...youre in the wrong bloody gear
  15. always worn full leathers, even on my 125. personally im not a fan of textiles , as I find them cumbersome and uncomfortable, and the ones ive tried are bloody useless in the rain anyway... and still needed waterproofs over, so I stick with leathers and chuck waterproofs on top if its chucking it down
  16. 2 completely different animals I would have thought... my cbr is a very hard ride, whereas ohjays vfr is like a bouncy castle in comparison. worth having the suspension set up for you though if its bothering you
  17. nothing better than being able to share your love of bikes, and take off together ( or separately lol ). good luck for next time, im sure you'll both nail it
  18. my input would have been .... buy a cosmetically sound one, and chuck the money at the mechanics....not much use to you in hindsight
  19. hardest thing for me was keeping warm... but then it was a particularly cold January day. just relax..make sure you are comfortable, but well protected... take your time....build confidence, and most of all remember to enjoy it and smile
  20. http://www.sandybikespares.co.uk/gsx600 ... -147-p.asp that one, and it is a shade over 300 complete , doubt you'll beat that mate tbh
  21. if its a complete replacement system, have a look at sandys bike spares, just got the stainless system for my cbr from them for 179 ( without end can ) I think you can get end can to go with for about 100ish.
  22. lol, just watched the video...that's hilarious...mostly cos that's exactly me on the R6.... only thing missing is the scenario where the legs aren't quite long enough to kick the stand down properly on a camber, and it keeps springing back up...necessitating shouting loudly at some passer by to come kick it down for you.....hehehe... funniest looks me and ohjay ever got were at squires... on a particularly busy hot day, when the flat spots in the carpark were full....he knows if I don't move once we've stopped , that means I cant get the stand down... so I sit patiently while he walks over and kicks it down for me....... the faces of the guys nearby were priceless
