  1. A blast from the past......Van Halen - Running with the Devil....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcvtnEvclGs
  2. You may need to check....but I would have thought that if you hold a full UK car license you will have already done the theory test and passed it.......but, as I say, best to check first. Normally for the DAS they will do the CBT first and then the MOD1 (machine control test, usually conducted in an off road area)....and then the MOD2 (On road riding test). But I did my bike test LONG before all these new rules.....so I'm not the best person to advise really....
  3. Welcome to TMBF mate........head over to the newbies section and introduce yourself to the guys...... So.....if I'm reading this correctly....the engine revs up ok.....but will only reach 10-15mph?........if that's the case I'd say it's something in the transmission. Is it a twist and go?......if so it could be the drive belt slipping.....

Sorry mate....trying to get my head round what's happening here. You say that as soon as you switch the ignition on the 10A brake light fuse blows....but then the brake light still works?.......
  5. Less than 200 mile round trip Nienna.....easy peasy.......you've got a 750.....it'll just be warmed up by the time we get there......
  6. Headstock stand successfully deployed on the Sprint this evening.....wheels off, ready for new boots..... Single sided swing arms......hahahahhahahahahah.....taking the rear wheel off is p*ss easy.....no dropping chains.....no having to move rear calliper......one BIG nut and the b*gger just slides off.....
  7. Booked the Friday off work.....well....when it's confirmed.....but yeah!!....deffo up for it..... Probably take the car though......lots of room to bring back all the goodies.....
  8. I did consider that Fozzie.....but as I already had a single side paddock stand that the previous owner of the Speedie gave me I just thought about something for the front wheel...... Not sure how the Abba stand with the rear wheel lifter would be with the single side swing arm on the Speedie and the Sprint.....
  9. if you sort the meet out Bob will it be new thread or on this one? There's a new thread Terry in the Biking events section.....and Jive has put a thread in the Cambs & East Anglia section too......well.....we kinda hijacked his thread.....but we're looking at Sunday 6th Oct to Willingham Woods. Hopefully you'll be able to make this one Terry.....
  10. LOL....yep, I can imagine it all ending in tears.....
  11. Awesome Priest.....well done mate.......silenced some of the cruiser bashers.....
  12. That's bad luck Priest....hopefully someone will have found the phone and handed it in for you......
  13. Sorry...been doing dinner.....now where were we? Ahh yes.....sounds like the choke is different to the CG.....so scrub round what I said....although the problem could be the choke sticking on....... What is the age of the bike....and if it's not new....what sort of service history does it have?........ Also it may be worth looking around the manifold where the carb (I'm guessing it's carbed) joins the cylinder head....any air leaks around there will cause the engine to rev high on it's own.... Just a few ideas of what may be wrong.......if your lucky some of the more knowledgeable guys will be on here later...and they'll have some better ideas......
  14. Well hopefully there will be a few of us heading up there from here........Jive has posted in the Cambs and East Anglia section.....so we'll see who wants to join the run from there......
  15. Are you using the choke correctly mate......if it's like the CG125 it'll be fully up to start....then down one click to the mid position to warm up....and then fully down to turn it off.....
  16. Oh Yes......go and sit on lots of bikes.....buy stuff....get all the freebies.......grand day out..... Yep...we'll probably take a day off during the week to avoid the weekend crowds......
  17. It's on over about a week.....and covers 2 weekends I think....but I'd need to check......23rd November to 1st December....so whatever days that is......
  18. If I were you, I'd head for the Motorcycle Live show at the NEC at the end of November.......plenty of gear will be there.....and some good deals too.....and, importantly, you can try stuff on before buying to make sure it fits.....
  19. Roadsaw.......Bad Ass Rising....... ">
  20. £45 ... is it Plantignum plated.... I don't think £45 was too bad......looks like a pretty well made, solid stand.......but I won't know for sure until I try it..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksi ... d&_sacat=0
  21. Nah.....not thick mate......we all asked the same questions at some time or other.......or learnt the hard way..... no point reinventing the wheel.......so ask away.......
  22. Gotta say that there's nothing stopping anyone else organising a local event if Willingham is too far..... Maybe we'll sort an East Anglia end of season meet for later in October if anyone would be up for that?
  23. Well....we popped up there today in the car......weather was fairly cr*p...... The tailender just gets smaller and smaller every year......hardly anything there this year......not many traders and even fewer bargains..... Was looking for tyres for the Sprint......guy there selling tyres......so I asked him about the Avon Storm 2 Ultras......quoted me £200 a pair.....I said I can get them off the internet for £180......he couldn't even match that.....so I'll get them off Round & Black or whoever.....I would have bought them if he could have matched the price..... So......I think that the Tailender will go the same way as the GEMS show unless something drastic happens.......and we'll have to think long and hard about going again if it does survive another year....
  24. Well....I bought a stand at the BMF......knocked the guy down to £45....just got to put it together and try it out now...... Thanks for all your input guys......
  25. Get the old paint off with a wire brush and put some new stuff on there........heatproof paint obviously.....can't remember the stuff I used on the barrels of my old Bonneville....but it came up a treat....... Finish is only as good as the preparation mate.....so take time to get all the loose stuff off and clean it well with white spirit or the like before applying the high temp paint........
