  1. Set up a Just Giving page?......
  2. Any adjustment in the switch position? ......otherwise you may need to improvise a bit.....
  3. Yeah, I did Bikesafe with Bonniebird a couple of years ago.......there's a classroom element on various aspects of safer riding and then an observed ride with a Police rider who give you feedback and advice on your riding......I found it very useful and a good starting place for going on to do advanced rider training.....
  4. Bad luck fella......but keep at it, you'll get there......
  5. I'd say a Bikesafe course would be a good starting place.......then see how you get on from there.....
  6. I rode my bike all year round when I was younger. .....you just need to see the signs where there could be trouble.....A bend with trees overhanging will be a likely place to find wet leaves in autumn.......places that are shaded from the sun when it's icy are likely black ice spots.......so, you just need to read the road ahead......and adjust your speed accordingly. ......
  7. Yeah.....pods can be a pain to get the bike running right........there's a company that does jetting kits for bikes with non-standard filters and exhausts.......http://www.6sigmajetkit.com/honda-cb400-super-four-jet-kit.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
  8. Could be a bent selector fork. I'm assuming that the gear lever isn't bent and catching on something, stopping it from moving fully?
  9. I've got an angle grinder...... What about a replacement caliper?.......see if it's used on any other bikes as you may find them cheaper......
  10. Yep.....surely sounds like it's the switch.....
  11. Unfortunately we'll not get along there tonight.... just too knackered!.....
  12. There's the Extreme Performance Bike weekend in October. ....... http://www.santapod.co.uk/e_extreme.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
  13. Yeah.....I'd say that a gearbox is under more strain during acceleration than with engine braking......
  14. A few mods and you'll get into the 5's....... https://youtu.be/VxKvHaKFIR0
  15. Looks like it's gone up a bit...... £10 for entry and £25 to register for track time.......
  16. You can do Run What Ya Brung at Santa Pod......I think it's around £27 for a days pass at a RWYB day.......
  17. If you read Road craft they actually advocate Block Shifting.....and suggest that slowing should be done with the brakes. Gotta say that I use the box and engine braking all the way down......

    Wet feet

    If someone can't handle their peeing, they should seat down or clean after them. That's basic consideration, especially in a houseshare. Sitting down is a very bad idea.........years ago a mate of mine needed the loo during the night after a bit of a session on the beers, as he was a bit unsteady on his feet he decided to sit down.......anyway, he fell asleep whilst sitting on the loo and fell off and faceplanted on the edge of the bath and broke his nose.....and had to wear a mask thing like Phantom of the Opera for several weeks......
  19. Could be an idea for next year's Challenge 100......
  20. You can get an ACU license from 11 years old for racing.... so, at 20 he could have 9 years experience. ....
  21. A big chain and padlock is the best deterrent I think.......but a determined bike thief will take the bike no matter what security you have. I have an alarm/immobiliser on mine......and a disk lock...... Look for something that's Thatcham approved if possible......
  22. Welcome to TMBF Jim........ I believe a lot of training schools will include the CBT training in the A2 as part of the course if you don't already have it. As far as I know there's no hard and fast rules regarding bike gear......The only thing I would be worried about is if you turn up for your test in full race leathers the examiner may see you as a racing wannabe and may not give you as much slack as he would if you were in textiles......but that's only my thoughts. Anyway, chat with local riding schools and you'll get a better idea of what you need to do......

    Would you go?

    I went there for just over a week a number of years back. We stayed in Tel Aviv and travelled to Jerusalem every day.....no problems at all.......In fact me and the guy I was working with delayed our flight home by a day and did a tour of Jerusalem and Bethlehem......so, I'd say go for it.....
  24. Place was rammed again. The only TMBF'ers there was GOG, and he was in the car, with Mrs GOG and Mrs GOG's cousin. But we also met some other friends there......and had a good look round the bikes......and didn't get quite as boxed in as last week......
  25. Yeah....just go up and down through the box to get a feel for it.......you'll soon get used to it. .......
