  1. My bike hs no screen or fairing on the front and my tank bag is solid up till about 70mph then it starts lifting?? this may have been due to it being fairly empty?
  2. Same as mine although yours looks in better nick........ My first big bike too, Moved up from CG125 and this does seem like a rocket, god knows what bigger bikes will feel like!!
  3. I didn't realise that it was over 80 miles!!! No wonder i needed to fill up!

  10. i've been using a Caberg "Trip" flip front helmet for the past 2 years and have had no problems with it at all, Apart from noise, Maybe you just have a dodgy one, take it back and ask for a replacement?
  11. Start with full choke and set off straight away and close choke as you are driving along.
  12. Got my first 3 today, only out for about an hour, so got all the local ones.... [album]216[/album][album]215[/album][album]214[/album]
  13. The CG had a small washable filter that i just rinsed then refitted, my 500 has a car type filter, HF303 which are about £5.
  14. I agree Polecat, But maybe not Mobil 1 = very expensive!!!
  15. Is there much difference between expensive oil and cheap? On my old CG125 I changed the oil every 1000 miles with a cheap oil, only 900ml so not too much money, now I have a 500 it takes 3.4 litres so is gonna be much more. Would it be better to use an expensive oil less frequently or a cheap oil more often? Is 5000 miles too long between changes? My bike is mostly used for commuting a 50 mile round trip, some A roads and some city driving.
  16. I had a 2005 cg 125 (ES4) and changed the tyres to Michelin pilot sporty, i found them to perform better than the old pirelli, I bought them from M and P .com and removed the wheels and took them to my local motorbike shop and asked them to fit the tyres to the wheels (I think they charged me a tenner). I bought new pads for the front disc from a seller on ebay, but never needed to change the rears shoes in the drum (the bike had done 16000 when i sold it).

    Grips

I fitted some (cheap) heated grips to my bike but the throttle grip moves if twisted hard enough, There was no glue in the kit (no instructions either). Can anyone suggest a glue to use that will not be too hard to remove in future (when/if they go wrong!) Thanks.
  20. Side stand switch? When my side stand is down and I apply throttle, it cuts out, maybe your switch is dodgy
  21. I've just bought an old ER-5 and hope it gets to 55,000 miles!!!! When i was training one of the trainers said to me that ER5's were like Land Rovers, They just go on and on. They had ER5's and new XJ?6 yamaha's, He said when the students fall off the ER5 you just pick it up, adjust the levers back to normal and ride off, with the more modern bike he said that everything just breaks and needs to be replaced. So even if it has been dropped there shouldn't be much damage.
  22. Count the links on the old chain and see if there are the same number on the new one, It's unlikely but your old chain may have stretched a massive amount, 1 link length, and you may need to remove an extra ink.
