  1. Hi there I am travelling from South Wales on the friday, (probably leave late morning) probably meeting up with Susique around telford area somewhere. Does anyone else fancy joining me? Anyone coming from further south fancy breaking for a cuppa and riding up with me? Matt
  2. Yep. First commute today. I can see why everyone likes them. Awesome bike. Totally in love with it, from the first mile!
  3. I dont like parking on a side slope with the bike leaning either way. Not too stable in my opinion. I would reverse it in, so you can just roll it backwards in, and I would leave it diagonally across the space so it is pointing as straight up the hill as possible.
  4. What route are you taking? Remy & I will be riding together from the Shrewsbury/Telford area, via Stafford, Uttoxeter, Ashbourne. That sounds good to me. Would be nice to go with someone who knows where it be!
  5. I am coming up from newport on friday, anyone want to ride up together, let me know! Definitely up for a bimble friday afternoon too!
  6. Lol, well, I have had a string of old jap bikes, Z, CX, GS, CB(F2) and lastly the XJ. Having had my first proper ride on the fazer today, I am blown away. Completely different to any of the older machines and vastly different! Not sure what next, but thinking I will enjoy the fazer for now. I WILL have a zxr750 one day, as it is the bike I always lusted over when I was learning in the 90s ( I know there's newer better bikes, but I don't care) Fancy a ZX9 at some point! or maybe a fazer1.
  7. yes, thanks guys! I know about the lever making it a closed system, what I have heard of is just flicking the lever gently without pulling it, to make any tiny bubbles trapped right at the top come out. Anyway, I went out last night to have another look and the lever seemed firm. Not 100% sure how firm it should be as it's a new bike to me, but felt ok. This morning same again. Maybe the first time I pulled it, there was a sticky caliper or something that then moved? No idea, but it's ok now. I went to change the pads and clean the pistons, but found out why the pads came with the bike. The retaining pins are stuck in at the moment, so I haven't touched anything. Will get some WD on the ends of them, and do a few rides and then have another go. Brakes working fine, but I dont think anything has been touched for a while so it will need a good going over once the pins are free.

  9. Cheers, will try that. Just had a look in the haynes book (obviously didn't do that BEFORE I did the job) and it says you can remove air from the top end by removing the cap and slowly pumping the lever without undoing the bleed nipples to see if you get any tiny bubbles from the holes in the master cylinder. Holding up the calipers makes sense to me!
  10. Hi guys an gals. Just changed the master cylinder on my new fazer. I bled the brakes through both calipers, and got the lever to be pretty good. After leaving it for an hour or two to do other jobs, the lever went straight to the bar, so I am obviously getting air stuck in there somewhere. Is there a good way to bleed them that gets rid of this issue? I am thinking, if I let them settle overnight, would the old 'flick the brake lever' trick work, to get the air bubbles up through the master cylinder??? Thanks in anticipation Matt
  11. Luggage rack is probably more dependant on body style so may not be interchangeable. Most of the bikes based on same base parts, tend to share engine, swingarm, suspension, electrics etc. If there is a more common one from a different model that can be picked up for not a lot, might be worth trying to see?
  12. air enough, that does sound like a bit of a cover up job then! shames it's been sat for so long, bit too late to try and get anything back now. Hope you get it sussed. How bad does it appear to be, they ARE fairly thick metal, if it's a localised hole, could it be plated over? Or is the whole thing rotten?
  13. Doesn't sound particularly like you were sold a duffer, te fact that there are none on ebay except a rotten one, means they obviously rot like a SOB. If it had some surface rust when you stored it up, 9 months sat is easily enough to allow it to rot away to nothing. I used to have old bmw's and believe me, once some rust is there, 6months is plenty enough to cause holes to appear.
  14. Aye, I'll be up for summink! I am in newport. Matt
  15. Oil seal comes out with the stanchion. If the retaining clip is still there, forks will not split!
  16. All depends on your fuel tap. A lot of modern bikes have a vacuum pipe like mine does, vacuum from engine turning opens the tap allowing fuel to exit. I HAVE no off, just reserve, prime and on. (Prime bypasses the vacuum on) I can take my tank off with the fuel pipe disconnected and the tap turned on and not a drop does exit from within!
  17. I'll see is he's around or not!
  18. Yes, they're ok, but when you have been hanging off spanners for many years you get a feel for the small nuts and bolts. 6mm bolts in cam covers are3 probably the worst, but I have managed to strip one using a torque wrench at the correct torque. You are relying on all the threads being A1 with a wrench. I have one in the shed, it only gets used for complete engine rebuilds, head bolts etc. Don't bother for normal things, and I haven't snapped or stripped a thread manually for years!
  19. Just saw the updated list. Can I just clarify, I AM coming, and my wife tracycoops is coming too, but we haven't had a pm. is it because I am on the list as mattycoops93 by any chance? Matt
  20. I use Asda 'George' range. Keeps all the bits that need to be kept in, in, and quite comfy. very cheap too!
  21. Just managed to get the friday off, so WOOP!
  22. We're bringing a car and a bike, got 4 way adapter for the car so happy to give people a top up.
  23. It might not be running at full efficiency at tickover, but basically a generator/alternator charges as long as the engine is turning. In fact, too fast can stop it charging at optimum rate. Higher voltage can mess with flasher units, making them turn on and off faster
  24. Good call-post a couple of clips of vid on youtube, that are set to private. Can you unlock them?
