  3. Has anyone gone through life with a daft thought I'd like to do that,, Well that's me,, over the years of my life on the odd occasion I've had a hankering to try & play a Banjo Daft idea I know,,,,,,,, Well thats me, daft as a brush,, with no idea what to do or how to play i've just acquired a 5 string Banjo,, So, coming up to winter months with long wet nights & crap telly, I thought now's the time to have a go But don't hold your breath So for the odd banjo player that might be on here,,,,, Any Tips Welcome
  4. Gotta love how you manage to see a downside to everything lol The log applies to ALL retailers. Maybe some will keep a few of the pennies in their pockets or maybe they won't, after all it's not taking something off the taxman its taking something off a charity. you could get your own back on those nasty retailers (and back the Government at the same time) take your own bag and use that instead. you might be happier, the retailer will be happier since he now doesn't have to take your 5p and log it and the Turtles that choke on these bags by eating them thinking they're a jellyfish will be more greatful than anyone. a win win win situation except that now I have to buy a plastic bag to do the jobs I used to do with the old retail bags Me??? the downside in everything ,,,,, next you'll be saying I'm negative Not at all, it's just old age & I think the word your looking for is cynical
  5. please please please do some research before posting! as a retailer I can assure you we don't keep any of the 5p. Every shop now has to charge a MINIMUM of 5p per bag given (wasn't it good of them to charge you the least amount they can by law??) we have to keep a log of how many bags we give out and how much money has been taken. We then give every single last penny of it to charity and declare this to the relevant authorities. All of this is at no cost to the consumer or to the authorities OK point taken,, the article I read made the point that the money did not go to the welsh assembly, but was retained by the retailer,, end of article,, So thanks for your input, I hate to say this but, the comment about keeping a log, might apply to some, but to a lot others it'll be just extra money in the pocket
  6. Living in Wales has it's good points free bus travel, for one & free prescriptions for another the air's good + most of it's green with lots of sea round the edge,, then something happens that makes you think, Daft Beggar's,,,,,, Let me explain & I can understand up to a point, you go to the supermarket & they chuck out plastic bags left right & center, the things are all over the place, blowing in the wind, filling land fill sites, plastic bags all over the place so to try and control this situation & make people more responsible for their actions, Wales has introduced from the 1st of Oct a levy of 5p per plastic bag from all outlets,, so each plastic bag from tesco costs you 5p, a bag to carry your beer from the off licence 5p,, Now I've just been to Smiths, bought a couple of books A5 paper back, gave me a small bag that the books just fitted in 5p please,( stuff that, keep it ) now the price of a small bag is the same as a large bag, so you start to think about it, it would seem any shop that used to give you a bag free will now charge you 5p,,, this money does not go to Wales but to the retailer so what is the cost of one plastic bag to the retailer ???????? not even 1p ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, look out England,, wait till David Cameron twigs on to this
  7. Motorway speed limit used to be 80, So thats fine by me, back to the status quo, LG
  8. THE British SPIRIT at its best,, God Bless every one of them,,,,,,,,,,,Kilroy was Here
  9. Sorry to hear your sad news,,,, My Dad passed away age 91, he was always hale & hearty, I never remember him having a cold or flue,, But yes he had a good life, one of the old school,, Old age,,?? well the one thing I've noticed over the last few years,, I'm not sending as many christmas cards as i used to also you start to become aware that there's more time gone than what there is left (bugger bugger bugger) Oh What the Hell, That's the way of things
  10. Put this another way,, should young girls & females be put on display & have full public exposure on web sites,, or be given anonymity... I know which way my vote goes.. I can't believe how much of their private lives people put on face book for all the world to read,,,, still it's up to you acquire your own private perve or nutter,,, there's plenty out there t nutter
  11. Just as a point of interest, I've just replaced the my battery & found out that unlike new car batteries, Bike batteries have only a 6 month guarantee,,, now that sucks ,,,,,,
  12. I've never heard this about any Triumph, & if you think about it, it's not likely would Triumph would put different magnets in your bike,,, the 12 volt charging system in Triumph bikes would be more or less the same across the range & controlled by the rect/reg for various machine requirements.., you don't say how old your bike is but if it's older than three or four yrs & your only going to keep it another two, then i'd go for the £50 quid option,,,,, having said all that, I would start by having the battery checked just because it's only 12 months old it doesn't mean it's still good (fickle thigs batteries)
  13. Your welcome anytime mine was a BSA supper rocket Is that what they used to deliver pizza's on back in the '60's?..... OK Sorry, Only one p in super But No, no pizzas around in the 60s, or none that I remember
  14. Your welcome anytime mine was a BSA supper rocket
  15. I quite understand your point,,, to put it in a nutshell,, there's not enough old farts to keep it going
  16. I'm not impressed & thats me being nice, Who wants to read biased reviews of how good my ,125 is,,??? ( & I'm still being nice ) Sorry to say it Dave, but I think the Old Bike & Bikers section has had it's day, in this day & age any thing older than 25 years is classed as vintage, mainly because the young riders of today never knew & have no understanding of the british machines that ruled the roads in yesteryear, I pity the fact that they missed the best of british motorcycling,,,,,,,,,,,,
  17. The thing about this is all the little shits that are robbing & looting, in a few years time will be having & raising their own little breed of shits, so what sort of standard & manners will these parents pass on to their offspring ,,
  18. Engine castings & the likes, welding is not a viable repair, as the casting has lost it's integrity, A weld will just give way again,,
  19. Stopped Smoking,, Thought you'd mended the bike or something,, So off the fags, nice one Now go & join Weight Watchers to keep the lbs off,,,, I was 12st when I gave up & put on just over a stone,, something to do with the body absorbing the food better,, well that's my excuse,, Cheers now where did I put that fag
  20. I've got to say the Sky is first class & works well,,,,, Having said that, I hate the whole SKY system where you have to pay through the nose for everything you watch
  21. You could eat your dinner from the inside of my Airbox New filter in there and oiled up as the one in there when I got it was full of holes and about 50 beech leaves Your right Colin the plugs came today and they look hansome compared to the ones in the bike so Ill change them then look at the tappets this weekend Bet you it's the plugs
  22. best place to start, change the plugs, if ones not firing properly the the mixture is not burning correct & the engine feels sluggish with no power,,, I had a new Breva only did 500 miles & a plug went, it was like an old pig & every thing they said about Guzi went through my mind,,, New plug = New bike was right as rain after that
  23. Makes you wonder how water got in the tank,, Rain or no Rain it shouldn't,, filler caps are supposed to be water tight,, have a good look at the seal & maybe even change it
  24. Most bikes with a petrol tap, think you will find the hand book recommends turning it off when not in use,,,,,,,
  25. Should be OK,, After all,, quite a few car drivers are blind in both eyes
