  2. I've always found several doses of glass cleaner does the job eventually John - but as I hardly ever clean my car I'm no expert!! They do say that warm soapy water with vinegar in is good for cleaning windows, and using newspaper to polish them.
  3. Happy birthday Bob - from me and Rennie
  4. Mend quickly Gill - I know you'll be going stir crazy in hospital as you're such a busy person! I'm not too far from you & you've got my phone number, so if you see this just give me a shout if I can do anything to help. Xxx
  5. Hi Craig, welcome to the forum! Yes, mod 1 & mod 2 are the way to get your full licence after CBT. DAS stands for Direct Access Scheme so it is the means of learning in readiness for passing mod 1 & 2
  6. Difficult to recommend brands because sizing varies so much too - as Neil says, it's better to try stuff on really. You can then always look on ebay
  7. I understand what you're saying about money Gary - in a career that is possibly somewhat limited in years who wouldn't go for big bucks?! I just think that he's having a brilliant season & shows great promise of achieving bigger & better things. When you look at Rossi's time at Ducati & Dovi this season they both failed to do what they're known to be capable of. Maybe a panic move? AFAIK Cal didn't have a ride for next season so maybe he's gone with Ducati as it's better than nothing?! Just hope it doesn't put a halt to his career progress & he makes it work.
  8. I run my own Maths & English tuition centre, so work from home most of the time Hobbies - music, socialising etc - am also involved with community projects. I enjoy making craft stuff, but do try to sell these too!

  13. I agree that we should drive at a speed that is appropriate for the circumstances, but then shouldn't speed limits be equally appropriate? There are so many ambiguities, and policy seems to vary in different areas of the country! Take for instance parts of Wales & Derbyshire. Blanket 50mph limits because someone has deemed these roads to warrant it. Whilst I obviously agree that on certain stretches of road, where accidents occur frequently, people should be made aware of the dangers that may be there. But is it really necessary to apply these speed limits for all the roads?? Perhaps better signage with a recommended speed warning for those unfamiliar with the hazards on a road? Yes you will always get people who have a total disregard for speed limits whatever they are -just as you will always get people who disregard the law in other circumstances. But why tar us all with the same brush and assume that we are all incapable of making our own judgements?!
  14. I feel that in certain circumstances speed limits are too low. Motorway limits should definitely be increased to 80mph, and I think there should also be a minimum speed of perhaps 60mph (including lorries!) at which you should drive on motorways. If you don't feel confident travelling at that speed then don't use a motorway! IMO the current national speed limit is fine for both two way roads & dual carriageways. 30mph is right for built up/residential areas - I like the idea of decreasing/increasing speed limits for certain times of the day around schools. I also think this could be applied to certain other roads between, say, 10pm - 6am. Here in Telford we have some open roads that are restricted to 40mph where there is clearly no need!! The other one I don't get is the 30mph limit on certain roads where, although there are houses etc, there is a service road alongside - between the houses & the main road. Fair enough, if the houses are directly on the main road. I know of a road near St Albans which is 30mph all the way - there are some houses but there is a 30ft verge & then a service road between them & the main road! In contrast, those that know the A38 from the west towards Derby will be aware that it is a 70mph dual carriageway, passing many housing areas that have service roads. I also feel that the speed limit for lorries on two-way national speed limit roads should be increased to 50mph (I believe it's 40 at the moment). The queues that form behind them are ridiculous & tempt people into making dangerous overtakes!

    Ipad...

I have no experience of Apple but I'm with Bob about itunes - pain in the arse!! My kids both have iphones & ipads and think they're wonderful, but from listening to things they've said it sounds like Apple can be rather 'controlling'. I have a Kindle Fire (not HD) and use it out & about, my phone being the wireless hotspot (thanks to Stu!! )
