Not all little girls! Grew up playing with Lego, Meccano, Dinky/Matchbox cars and a Hornby train set, which I still have in the loft!! And I'm quite happy to do some minor car maintenance and quite capable of doing D.I.Y around the house & garden!

Fancy dress under construction today I'll be baking on Thursday - some goodies for all you good people to buy in an attempt to raise forum funds & help out with any shortfall in costs. Might also have some fleece neck buffs for sale, at a very reasonable price, once again to raise funds for the forum. Will get the necessaries for supplying tea & coffee for a small fee, should people require it!

But why should he have to use lane 3 to overtake you? Lane 2 is also an overtaking lane. What happens if another vehicle wishes to overtake him? There's nowhere else to go, hence causing the congestion. If you're making 'good progress' why can't you do this in lane 1 if there is no other vehicle in it that you're actually overtaking? As the Highway Code states, lane 1 is the driving lane - lane 2 & 3 are for overtaking!

Yes obviously - if you are actually overtaking two lorries in succession then there is no need to pull over to the left, but if there is a reasonable gap between them then you should. The speed that you are travelling is immaterial - the Highway Code says that you should pull over into the left hand (driving) lane when not actually overtaking. Like I said, if people continue driving in the centre lane just because there is a slower vehicle in the distance, this means that drivers travelling faster are forced to use the outside lane, thus causing the congestion that you speak of, and it reduces the road to a two lane carriageway. Many times I have had to pull out from the nearside lane, across the centre lane into the outside lane to overtake a vehicle in the centre lane which is travelling more slowly, because we are not supposed to undertake!!

Yes, because that's how the Highway code says you should drive - 15 seconds is a plenty big enough gap to pull over into! Obviously if you need to pull out again after 3-5 seconds then that's different. It's because people don't pull over to the left and continue to drive in the centre lane that causes the situation where there are no gaps to pull out into. It effectively reduces a 3 lane motorway to a 2 lane motorway!

Would just like to point out that there are no such things as 'fast lane/slow lane' - the left hand lane is the driving lane and any others are overtaking lanes! Lane hogging is one of the worst things for causing traffic congestion! If everyone was to use the lanes as directed in the Highway code then there would be no need for this law enforcement. If, for a reasonable distance, there is nothing in the lane to your left, regardless of the speed you are travelling - MOVE OVER!!!! Many times I have been travelling at the speed limit for motorways (cough!) in the left hand lane and there have been tw*ts travelling at a very similar speed in lane 3 I also abhor people who are driving in the centre lane with no traffic to their right, and when I indicate to pull out from the left hand lane they steadfastly refuse to move over to let me out!!

Me & Rennie are doing a gig tomorrow night - wedding reception/evening do thingy. Actually getting paid for this one!! That's if we can get the car full of kit up the big hill to the venue in all this snow!!!

The lady who owns the venue was pretty chilled about things, so would probably be accommodating if people wanted to arrive earlier.
