Hi all, i'm looking at buying that cheap tank bag for sale in Lidl. How good are magnetic tank bags?

And how much stuff (weight) can you put in there? I worry about the magnets not being strong enough and it just sliding off round corners, or sliding back into me on acceleration... I'm wanting it for shopping, i.e sticking bottles of milk and coke in there, my bike chain too...

Thanks guys for any answers... :)

There ok i used one to tour Wales last year with all my gear in it.

The only bit of advise i'd give you is to brush the magnets with your hand before you put it on your bike to get rid of any bits of grit like crap that stick to the magnets, so you dont scratch your paintwork.

Ahh, cheers mate :) Did you put much heavy stuff in there?

It will take your milk, coke and bike chain no problem mate.

Just put the bottles in a bag and seal it incase they leak

I rode with loads of Uni books and stuff in mine and the magnets are pretty strong and the only movement was from the bag itself. The thing is though that it's in between your arms so it's not going anywhere anyway AND most come with a strap that fasten around the headstock.

My biggest issue with them is accessing the bloody fuel tank for filling up as you have to hang it off the side of the tank but then that's only every 140 miles or so.

Ooof, got the last one! Was there at 8:30am and most of the stuff is gone! Still, good bag xD If not a little scratched on the clear bit... meh nevermind :)

Bag is great!

Can zip off from the magnetic bit as a backpack with proper straps... Also can velcro the flaps on the back of bag... Comes with a single shoulder strap too. And also, a full waterproof cover that goes over the whole bag, for really heavy rain!

Fits my tank lovely :) Although doesnt fit Edgey's tank so nicely, as its smaller and funnily shaped...

Tested it today with 4-2l bottles of coke, hah xD Was just fine :)

Will also fit a Helmet in there when extended.

I picked one of these up today. I have to admit I didn't read the original thread because of the Lidl portion of the title but it really seemed a bargain so I headed down.

I bought one of the tops (£12) and a tank bag (£20). I am very impressed with both.

The tank bag is huge. Below are some photos to give you an idea, but it's quite sturdy and magnetises well considering the shape of my tank. Feels solid. It's not got the funky zips etc. like my little tank bag, but it's half the price and 35l instead of 6l capacity!

Just to note, in all these photos the zip is done up so it's not even fully expanded. Bargain I say.
