mealexme Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 this is my first poll, so it may go a little wrong Quote
queen bodecia Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Fair weather definitely. Weekends only. If the weather is poo, I find something else to do with my leisure time. Quote
JoshRS Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Used to ride in all weathers. But now i've got the car, only when it's not wet really. I have more fun in the dry Quote
Guest Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 All weather rider, but if its convenient for me and the mrs, we/i use her car in really bad weather. But there isn't any weather that has stopped me being where i need to be.If it snows again, i'm getting some knobbly tyres!! Quote
Fozzie Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 All weather rider. I don't care about the rain, ice or leaves on the road. There is the problem of lubing up the chain and bearings again after it rains but meh... I rode a bike for a year solid when I was 16, there wasn't a day I didn't use the bike. Even when the ice on the ground was terrible. Just kept a light throttle hand, a steady line and I was fine. Quote
Keithg24 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 If it is an arranged ride out or weekend away, I will go regardless of the weather............impromptu and raining, I won't bother!. Quote
Revvin Kevin Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 All weather, why ride only during our short summer, I almost prefer winter riding to summer riding Quote
archiec Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Definately fair weather but only cos I hate cleaning all the chrome.......need to get a winter bike....... Quote
FORDYUK Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Will only leave my bike at home if its sub zero and icy or snow. Quote
Remy Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Fair weather, because I feel the cold and don't like getting wet . I suppose it's linked to age because when I was younger I'd go out in any weather (I'm talking horse riding here not bike riding) - snow, ice, rain, gales - but can't see that these would be particularly pleasant on a motorbike and they definitely aren't on a horse any more! keith565 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 any time i can get, to and from work then out again after a cuppa, lol, love it. Quote
steer_rally Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I commute 30miles each way, every day, and I haven't taken the car to work (or anywhere else for that matter) since the middle of January, so I suppose that makes me an all-weather rider Quote
Rosie Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I would say an all weather riderbutwith limits?? if that is possible I don't ride between November and March mainly as I live next to the sea and the salt air is enough to corrode my bike withour the salt in the road adding to it.I don't have anywhere dry and warm to store my bike on a day to day basisand the main reasonI'm getting too old for all that Quote

bwhiti Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I'll ride in any weather especially as I use my bike to commute to London Quote
techno Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Always been all weather rider except snow and ice tho ive done it, but had enough its no fun in the wet and cold anyone saying different is a liar imo, if am caught out in it fair enough but as am getting a little shitty car next week i will have options!! Quote
spafe2302 Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Techno, I enjoy riding in snow (although it has to be fresh) as providing I take it easy its jsut a nice change to normal riding. Once it's been there a couple of days and theres ice below it, no i dont enjoy it, but will still ride in it.As for cold, given me myself is sufficently padded to stay warm, and the silly tempretures my bike runs at assuming i'm not going above 50ish (why you'd do that through snow is beyond me anyway) then i'l stay warm enough. This last winter I took the bike for a service during the week when we ahd almost a ft of snow (think about 8-9 inches) and granted I had my feet down for approx half of the 2 miles odd to the garage, I loved every minute of it. the 2 days that my bike was being serviced was the only time I stopped riding, was out in it pretty much everyday. nman1 Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 No choice, all weather (apart from snow) no car. Quote

I'm not saying I like to freeze my arse off but I love power slides Although last time I did it on crap moped over 15 years ago lol Now I'm just a sensible rider not scared of any weather Quote
Guest Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 used to ride every day for 18 months , 50 mile round trip , had no choice lol ! just got bike again after 8 years and when went to pick up yes it bloody poured down . this time round dont need bike for work but still aint gonna be shy of a little rain etc . chiz Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 I'll not leave the house if it's raining. If I get caught in the rain once I'm already out, I'm not bothered.I bought my bike to use for fun, as a hobby etc. I don't see the fun in getting soaked and having to take it easy cause the roads are wet/icy.I don't see my bike as a means of transport so to speak, for every mile I do on the bike, I do 100 in the car. Hywel Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 My car is on it's last arse so when my bike is in working order I spare the car for when I absolutely need to carry lots of things with me or give someone a lift. I don't let rain put me off but I'll make a decision whether or not to use the bike when there's ice around. Quote

X2!I used to be all weather apart from heavy snow/ice and have done three winters... however that part of my motorbikering is over and now I'm fortunate enough to be able to walk to work and enjoy the bike purely for weeknight and weekend fun......I find it even more of a drug now, and if I don't get out on it at least once or twice a week I'm a right miserable sod! God help me in the winter when she gets stripped for servicing... although I think it won't be too bad then because I know there is no way I can ride her! Quote
