Hi

Sorry if these question's are a bit dense bit I just know.

I'm looking to purchase an alarm for my bike but I was wondering as my bike does not have an immobiliser fitted can I purchase an alarm that will enable me to have an immobiliser fitted to the bike.

Also has anyone got any good alarms they could recommend please. :)

Thanks

Barry

Yes, you can do that. Be careful though, some alarm/immobiliser combinations (for example, the advanced motorcycle alarm v3 on that site) are as easy to disable as unplugging them from the battery, which is usually trivially accessed by breaking the seat lock. I prefer it this way, because i use a good chain and it means a malfunctioning system won't strand me in the middle of nowhere (i can just unplug and ride), but you may prefer to take the risk for the added security.

I warn you though, even a thoroughly-wired-in system can be disabled with thought/knowledge. I've even heard of them ripping off the indicator stalk and putting a power surge through the indicator wiring to go through the electrical system and trip the fuse on the immobiliser/alarm! (therefore disabling it).

i have a datatool s4 fitted to mine but your talking £350 maybe more!! yes they can bring your insurance down but never enough to warrant the alarm!! mine was already fitted so i cant complain

edit: if your bikes worth it fit a tracker they start at £199 with a yearly subscription of £60 these do bring insurance down

Thanks everyone for the sound advice. I do have a heavy chain as well I just want the alarm fitted reall because my neighbours are burglars and car/bike thiefs so I just wanted a way of hearing it if they tried anything. The bike isn't really worth alot in money it's just it's my pride and joy :D
