Comrade Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 is it possible to teach yourself to a standard you can pass mod 2?I currently ride everyday to work, only real problem its in local town, so not much to challenge me like bus lanes , parking maneuvers etc, im currently up to mod 2 stage on teaching myself, i have no real desire to get a bigger bike simply as i couldnt afford one yet due to anchors ( kids, mortgage lol )So if anyone is knowledgable on the criteria i must adhere to or if there is any instructors who wouldnt mind passing on some tips that would be very much appreciated! BBTBB Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 It certainly is possible... I think a few of us on here have done it. You need to know what they're looking for, so check out the test section here. The DSA also have a YouTube series about the Module 1 & Module 2 which is worth a look Quote
inversteve Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I'm not a bike instructor but I am a car one who passed his test year and half ago.The things you will probably need to work on are.Life savers--ie when and whereLane discipline--ie roundabouts, one way streets etc.Use of mirrors--ie when changing speed or directionRoad position--ie at junctionsSpeed--ie doing 40 in a 30 areaWould recommend you spend a couple of hours with a instructor who can tell you your faults etc, and then practice.Hope this helps.Steve Quote
Remy Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Also don't forget to cancel your indicators after turning! can fail on this .. Quote

Guest Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I'm also interested in trying to pass alone. For mod 1, i think I will be ok, Im practising in a empty car park. More worried about module 2. Is the correct procedure before turning, 1) Mirror 2) Position 3) Indicate, 4) Lifesaver 5) Turn. ? Quote
