Nah... he's just a big ass bullshitter

Why is knowing that people do 150mph bullshit?

I have no idea why you would think that.

My mate is 'cos he said he did 170mph. :D

Oh, and I know him quite well enough to make a judgement.

This bogof likes to play a dangerous game dunny?

For speeding only i.e. no dangerous stuff it's either points or a ban (you get one or the other, not both as some people believe).

Ban is 56 days max.

108 in a 60mph is likely to be a ban. You'll have to plead for your licence and you may get

a shorter ban or 6 points instead and a big fine to compensate.

Any sort of rider training Advanced, ERS, Bike Safe will help. Do it before you go to court.

The magistrates like this sort of thing as it shows you are willing to improve your riding.

Make sure you get a lift to court, don't drive/ride there as it's viewed as contemptuous

and is more likely to get you banned or a longer ban than you would have got.

Dress smart but don't wear a an Armani suit. Smart casual not race leathers ;-)

I speak from experience. :-)

Oh good advice can you be our Forum speeding expert

"Jason you are a sick man! Think I'll look into the legal advice, I've got three points but they caught me doing 123 on a 70 motorway"....

...."Ok I am a v v lucky man, I can still ride my bike! I got 6 points which brings me to 9 and a hefty fine of 600quid, but in the circumstances I am very happy!"

You need to show hardship to OTHERS.

Some thinking points,

Do you have kids you need to take to school?

Parents who need to go to hospital appointments?

Old neighbour across the road you take to the shops?

ETC..

A letter from your employer explaining the effect of you loosing your licence on the company and why they need you will help.

Selling the motorbike is a good idea.

Dress smart, most people who turn up wear trackies and a t-shirt, it doesn't give the right impression. - This is advice from a mag I know.

I'll turn up in a suit and tie

I'll have a letter from my business partner saying that if I lose my car then I, and 4 other people will lose their job (I'm ther marketing guy)

I'll also get a letter saying all important appointments have been cancelled for 2-3 weeks

I'll try and sell my bike

It was in Hampshire (bournemouth/ringwood)

  • 2 months later...

I'VE BEEN TO COURT

Circumstances

108.5 (average including stopping) in a 60 limit (single carriageway)

Fine weather, dry, light traffic

Dorset Magistrates (Weymouth)

Over taking two cars (one of which was undercover cop)

Need licence for work

Clean licence

Punishment

Pled guilty

6 points and £285 fine (inc costs)

Resolution

Sell bike so I don't do this again! Yes I could ride slower, but as you know it's so easy and I need to be point-free for at least 3 years...

6 points not good, but could have been worse... :)

Yes it is easy to go over the limit, but 108 average in a 60 is a bit extreme!

I wouldn't get rid of the bike, just take the hit and treat it like a massive kick up the arse!

I don't know, I'm sure I've averaged around 100 on a long stretch of the A616 before, it's a long open road.

Sounds like you've got off lucky but it seems if your selling the bike you know it's not right so a fitting end imo

You've been very lucky. You have six points left so quite a result really. You can still have one more speed camera accident before you're on your last chance.

You don't need to be bikeless. Swap to a cruiser, I did. You can have just as much fun without being a risk to yourself and others.

Or if speed is your thing. Van, trailer and track bike is the way to go 8-)
