Susieque Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Rennie & I had a lovely bimble around the Shropshire countryside today, taking in some beautiful scenery and some very 'interesting' roads!! We left Telford & headed through Much Wenlock and on to the pretty town of Church Stretton for some lunch. Visited Carding Mill valley, then headed out of the town & up into the Shropshire Hills onto Long Mynd! For those of you who are unfamiliar, the road up Long Mynd is a single track road climbing to 516m with a 1 in 5 gradient!!! All good fun & plenty of low gear, slow speed riding & hill start practise!! On top of Long Mynd.... If the ride up Long Mynd was slightly nerve-wracking then the ride down the other side was pretty scary!! A 1 in 4 gradient with lots of bends! For those of you who have ridden a YBR & experienced their braking capacity, you'll know what I mean when I say I'm bloody glad there was nothing coming the other way!!!!! Front brake pulled full in & bike not stopping!!!!! Rennie managed to take us back to Shrewsbury via country lanes, through Ratlinghope, Pulverbatch & Longden. Then it was back home through Atcham, past Attingham Park where he put the Fazer through it's paces & waited for me in Wellington to catch up! Quote
argentum40 Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 If you think your YBR has pooh brake mine has drums back and front lol... i am used to em now but even still they dont stop you too quickly if an emergency crops up Quote
Remy Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 It's a lovely place, one of my local haunts, I've been up and down those roads many times (sometimes walking with the dog! ). Glad you made it Sue , I can imagine it might be a bit hairy if your brakes aren't much good . Lovely pics and glad the sun stayed out for you Quote
