After working 4 weeks away from home l drove 350 miles back from France Saturday parked up for the night, went 7 miles on Sunday afternoon to have the gearbox warning light come up on the dash and a total loss of drive :( End result my Auto gearbox has let go needs a total rebuild £1700 + the dreaded VAT!! :( Gutted as l was in mind for changing the car!

Bl**dy cars......ought to get a bike mate.....

The timing for things like this is always great isn't it....... So......new gearbox and hang onto the car for a bit......or new gearbox and get shot before anything else goes wrong?

Hi Mate, rebuilt gearbox comes with a 2 year guarantee and an additional intercooler thrown in they recommend it, so if l get this done l will have to run it a good while longer to recover the repair cost! They say that the BMW auto gearbox is good for around 15000 miles they come sealed for life and require no oil change??!!! Was all set for a part ex for something newer. It's now looking like l'm going to have to drop me trousers. Got 3 bikes in the garage but need a work horse. Time to hibernate the bikes now for winter, apart from the enduro hopefully for some green laneing.
