Guest Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Hi folks, Bought a suction mount for my Galaxy note 3 but unfortunately my wind shield is as suspected - too curved. It can attached to the tank but that might be a bit more risky...? Probably a bit too risky anyway!?I'd really like to be able to use it for sat nav purposes...does anyone have any ideas or experience???Cheers,Phil. Quote
Tango Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 You can get tank bags with clear windows in the top and a pocket for maps/Satnav.....I had one but I found that the position was not good for me.....I felt that I had to take my eyes too far off the road and focus on the satnav than I was comfortable with..... I've got a bar mount case for my S3 which is better as I don't have to take my eyes too far off the road now to look at the satnav..... You'll probably also need to consider a charger as the satnav apps rinse the battery.... Quote
mealexme Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 unfortunately the bar mount won't work on the R6 because it has clip-ons. I tried swapping mine over from my bandit to the RR and found out the hard way, 170 miles from home that it wouldn't connect, so had to rely on the unclear audio. Needless to say, i got a bit lost... Anywho, you can get stem mounts from RAM mor UltimateAddons which look a bit like thishttp://www.motorcycleracegear.com.au/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/r/a/ram-b-3423.jpgThey work great imo. Guest Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Thanks folks. Tank bag is out of the question...that's a serious hit on the cool factor lol.I'll have a look at these stem mounts and see what I can find Quote

Stu Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 it does depend on what space you have got to be honest the R6 I fitted one on was a newer model Quote
mattycoops43 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 bar mount also fitted on the fairing bracket on the storm, was the same dia as the bars.I have my givi one for sale if you need one? Quote
DreamytimeEscorts Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Duct tapeyep, freezer bags and Duck tape. You might want the place a tea towel underneath the tablet though. Quote
Guest Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 The problems start once you have it fitted. most notably 'Glare' - modern smart phones are quite reflective - putting it mildly. if the sun is behind you - the screen can be impossible to see. This is even worse in winter when the sun is low in the sky. There are probably answers to this - but it needs to be researched. Quote

mealexme Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 my hard case from ultimateaddons was absolutely fine. You can set it just tight enough that you can adjust the angle whilst riding though Quote
Throttled Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I use a RAM mount with a £20 waterproof soft cover that if I angle so it is upright there is no glare and I can see the screen. Quote
