Hi folks,

Bought a suction mount for my Galaxy note 3 but unfortunately my wind shield is as suspected - too curved. It can attached to the tank but that might be a bit more risky...? Probably a bit too risky anyway!?

I'd really like to be able to use it for sat nav purposes...does anyone have any ideas or experience???

Cheers,

Phil.

You can get tank bags with clear windows in the top and a pocket for maps/Satnav.....I had one but I found that the position was not good for me.....I felt that I had to take my eyes too far off the road and focus on the satnav than I was comfortable with.....

I've got a bar mount case for my S3 which is better as I don't have to take my eyes too far off the road now to look at the satnav..... 8-)

You'll probably also need to consider a charger as the satnav apps rinse the battery....

unfortunately the bar mount won't work on the R6 because it has clip-ons. I tried swapping mine over from my bandit to the RR and found out the hard way, 170 miles from home that it wouldn't connect, so had to rely on the unclear audio. Needless to say, i got a bit lost...

Anywho, you can get stem mounts from RAM mor UltimateAddons which look a bit like this

They work great imo.

Thanks folks. Tank bag is out of the question...that's a serious hit on the cool factor lol.

I'll have a look at these stem mounts and see what I can find :)

not entirely true

I have fitted a bar mount on to clipons on an R6 before

it does depend on what space you have got to be honest

the R6 I fitted one on was a newer model

bar mount also fitted on the fairing bracket on the storm, was the same dia as the bars.

I have my givi one for sale if you need one?

The problems start once you have it fitted. most notably 'Glare' - modern smart phones are quite reflective - putting it mildly. if the sun is behind you - the screen can be impossible to see. This is even worse in winter when the sun is low in the sky. There are probably answers to this - but it needs to be researched.

That's the one!

Thanks - I'll get this. I have a 10000mha portable charger so OK on the power side of things :)

Hi Mate, l be very surprised if your power connection will fit the phone inside there case, l had to buy there's in the end it's a lot smaller than the norm.

No need to worry about power - my charger can go flat to full in an hour once off the bike.

my hard case from ultimateaddons was absolutely fine. You can set it just tight enough that you can adjust the angle whilst riding though

I use a RAM mount with a £20 waterproof soft cover that if I angle so it is upright there is no glare and I can see the screen.
