Tango Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 As some of you may have seen I managed to get the engine out of the Honda.....but it needs a bit of a spruce up......so, as it's been a long time since I used any engine paint, can anyone recommend a brand that is good? Need satin black. Cheers..... Quote
Stu Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 cant say I have used any engine paint to be honest Bob never needed to I'm sure megawatt will have at some point in his lifetime though Quote
Tango Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 I've used it in the dim and distant past Stu.....but, like most things, newer stuff will come along that's better...... Quote
Tango Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 or claim to be better when infact they arent True.... Quote
mealexme Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I think the best bet would be to get it professionally sprayed at a dust free booth with dedicated spray guns rather than attempting it yourself.ps, power coating usually looks crap on engines too. The finish is usually too dull and doesn't look anywhere near as good as factory finish Quote
Adam Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I've never used it myself but I've heard BBQ paint will do, it's only gonna end up dirty anyway so I suppose it doesn't matter that much. Quote
Throttled Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 I have used Halfords high temp engine enamel paint for touch ups with no issues. It is about £7 for a small tin. Not sure about painting a whole engine though. Quote

Guest Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 One paint i wouldnt recommend is Simoniz VHT..Their paints are good, but their VHT is junk IMO..Claims satin black... Like heck is it.. Comes out like soot colour, real dull and miserable looking..Chips off really easily too, even after it has "set" from engine heat... Quote
