Guest Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I have a Honda XR125 2004.I bought it without indicators and bought bulb ones of the internet and have fitted them. They are slightly dim and flash slightly fast so have guessed its the relay as the guy before did have one LED indicator on the front so maybe the relay is an LED one? Having looked all over the bike for the relay I have found one behind the headlight but its a rectangular one with 3 inline pins, is this the original/correct one needed for bulb indicators? I have googled and keep seeing the 2 pin ones for this bike but even if I bought one of these am unsure how to connect the 3 wire connection (these being a blue, green and white wires). My question is does anyone think its the relay and does anyone know the correct relay for bulb indicators for this particular bike?Any help would be appreciated! Thanks Quote
Mr Fro Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Why don't you buy a Haynes manual? Money well spent. It will show you what you should have as opposed to what someone on the internet thinks you should have. Quote
Guest Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Well heres a whole lot of help... No if I wanted a Haynes manual I would have bought one, I instead have another manual already so thanks and Im pretty sure Haynes dont do a manual for this bike so silly comment in the first place! Plus you are on a forum where people ask and rely on other people opinions and help so dont know why you are here if you think a manual has everything... Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 i say old chap steady on what what.basic works can be helped by a manual so often many folk are hinted at to buy one it has nothing to do with not being bothered and to be a new member and telling older members they shouldnt be here will not get you a lot of help from others a pic of the relay and also part numbers might help but it if only had one led indicator before maybe the last owner wasnt to worried so you can always change all 4 for led and see how they flash and then fit relay if needed, you will also be able to tell if the unit you are looking at is the relay by unplugging it and see if the indictors still work Quote
Mr Fro Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 And welcome to the forum...I apologise most sincerely for my lack of knowledge on the Haynes back catalogue.Perhaps I should clarify my previous comment; you say you've done a Google search for indicator relays and only found three pin connectors as opposed to your two pin connector. The suggestion that you consult a manual to find out which is OEM or indeed if you have located the correct relay I think is pretty reasonable - might be that you've found the headlight relay. A voltmeter across it while operating various switches should give you an answer. Quote

I've got a 3-pin flasher relay going spare you can have for the price of a pint plus P+P.I would've said you can have it gratis but considering the sarcasm, that would've been rude. Quote
Mr Fro Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I'm guessing that'll be a pint at London prices too. Quote
DreamytimeEscorts Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Well considering I do most of my drinking in London, yes. I can't be doing with all this "by 'eck, y'nor this pint is £1.80 back orm" that you normally get when you bump into someone in the west end that's come to see a show and heralds from north of Watford Gap. :- Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 somehow i think the original op wont respond any futher as hopefully he can see that he might of been a bit hasty in his choice of words but a few of us have given him some help best leave him to be now and if he would like to respond he is always welcome back to do so ............in a nice way of course Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I have a 3-pin relay (as stated in the Haynes manual ) that works perfectly. I also have a 4-pin one that, if you remove one pin with some shears, might work (but this is not detailed in the Haynes manual ). Yours for £50 (inc P&P).NB. I'll also include a copy of the Haynes manual for free (It only cost me a few minutes of time to locate and download a PDF version from t'internet).NB - I am an 'old' member (in more watys than 1) Quote
