craigwf3 Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 I want to add a couple of bright red leds to the back of my bike and I don't know (I tried google) which of these wires is the side light (which I want to tap into) or brakelight wire, I was wondering if you guys could help me out, its a cbr600f 1998.http://i1023.photobucket.com/albums/af351/craigw9946/IMG_1556_zps1f1209ca.jpghttp://i1023.photobucket.com/albums/af351/craigw9946/IMG_1557_zps0a6a13c5.jpg Quote
Stu Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 get a wiring diagram and look failing that get a multimeter and see which on has power with the lights on! Quote
rennie Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 If you must fit LEDs you will probably need to fit the appropriateresistors too! Quote
fq-craigus Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Use a test light and poke it into the wire and see where there is power. Are they stop tail bulbs or separate? Quote
Dav3y Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 looking at this I'm fairly confident the yellow is the side light and green the earth. the remaining two colour wire being the stop light. As has been said, you may need resistors unless you buy 12v LEDs with them built in.http://dombike.narod.ru/rus/manuals/hayness_cbr/scan/0093.gif Quote
Chrissb6 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Hi if your going to use them as additional tail lights just be sure that you can clearly distinguish the difference between your tail and stop light. If there to bright you could run the risk of someone behind you not being able to see your stop light Quote
Tango Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Cut the green wire.......no, wait, the brown wire........no, hold on, the green wire.......but then again, the brown wire...... Or....instead of cutting wires you could use Scotch Blocks...... Quote
megawatt Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Try disconnecting them further up the loom. Should be push fit connector? Quote
Who else but Quagmire Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Click HERE and download a manual. Even if you don't find your exact model, most will have the same generic colours for ancillaries. Quote
raesewell Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Under no circumstances use Scotch Locks throw them in the bin nowUse thesehttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-x-Posi-Tap- ... 27ee36f3bf Quote
