RantMachine Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 So I was thinking the other day, I wonder if there's any kind of correlation between the bikes we choose to ride and the political parties we choose to vote for? Some hard wired aspect of our personalities that draws us in certain directions? I saw some interesting stuff a while back that showed average bike owner job and income according to which brand they ride, and thought it'd be fun to find out if the same is true of politics. I'll post the outcomes on here some time after the election (ie. when I remember to!)Survey is here, greatly appreciate anyone taking the time to answer all two of the questions! https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JJ87Y6TAnd let's not have a big old row on the forum, ok guys? Or maybe not even say a single word about it on here? I've made the questionnaire anonymous for a reason! Quote
NeilM Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I have participated and will be voting for ...... Quote
RantMachine Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 I know, right? It's almost like I designed it with my own attention span in mind Quote
Matt Strange Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I normally wouldn't ride a Suzuki but I currently do - you should have perhaps asked what is your favourite manufacturer instead? Quote
rennie Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I've filled it in,I won't discuss my politics on here though! Quote
RantMachine Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 Matt - that's a valid point. It's a tough one as I'm also partly interested in the economic factor, such as which type of voters ride the more high end brands, and which type ride Chinese, and so on, and if I say "preferred brand"... well, nobody is going to say Chinese, are they? Rennie - Wise move! Neither would I Quote
RantMachine Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 Cheers to everyone who has taken part so far! Quote
Miss Meg Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I ride a honda... I was going to vote green party - but they want to bring in new rules against motorbikes. so not going to bother, it's not like any of the parties are actually going to make things any better. Quote
NeilM Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Rantmachine.Where did you see the information concerning bikes v income v jobs etc? I'm quite interested in social science etc and psychology. (About as far removed from my job as is possible) Quote
RantMachine Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 The statistics were released by one of the major insurers - can't remember which off hand. Irritatingly, it was one of those things that just pops up in your Facebook newsfeed one day, you read it there and then, and then damned if you can ever find the ruddy article again. All I remember off hand is that Cagiva bikes are most likely to be owned by unemployed people and BMW are most likely to be owned by people who have retired I'll have a search around and if I can find the site with a bit of blind Google searching I'll post it in this thread. RantMachine Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 Wow, I'm good at this Google lark It used to be here: http://www.thebikeinsurer.co.uk/motorbike-insight-tool/results/?manufacturer=all®ion=1&yr=2013It's now somewhere on here: https://www.twowheeldatacentre.co.uk/(Along with loads of other statistics) Quote
CGD217 Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I've had a go.When do we see the results? A week or so? Quote
RantMachine Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 I was thinking either some time around the day of the election, or whenever I stop getting new people responding. Quote

Quotes or data mining/selling to drive targetted marketing? Quote
Fozzie Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I don't mind discussing politics, last time round I ended up voting tory as I wanted labour out and the prospect of having the lib dems in there to offer balance swung me. I generally vote for who is the least bad That said the lib dems essentially let the tories walk all over them and we've had a tory government without the balance. Can't stand Ed Miliband, his brother David was the hot favourite with the public to take leadership and I agreed with his ideas. Would likely be voting for him this time round if he'd taken leadership. So who knows this time...I don't "do" political discussions anymore as people say "politicians only serve themselves". Which is one of the most hypocritical statements out there. Of course they do, the same way people serve themselves by voting for the one you think gives you the most for nothing. Quote
RantMachine Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 I'm planning to stand as an independant candidate in 2020 (didn't get my act together quickly enough this time) on a platform of "We've ruined the place, let's all go and live in caves". I have some supporters already Quote

RantMachine Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 Store as many tools and bikes as you like, a man's cave is his castle and what he does with it is no business of the state until such time as it is deemed to impact negatively on the caves of others!Although I'm considering including a bit in my manifesto about adding "ownership of good tools and adequate bike storage" to the bill of human rights. Mr Fro Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 ...a man's cave is his castle and what he does with it is no business of the state until such time as it is deemed to impact negatively on the caves of others! There's your first error mate; a cave is a cave, not a castle. How are you expecting to garner the respect and following of the public with such fundamental errors? It raises an interesting point though, does a seat have to be a physical seat in this computerised day and age? I'd like to see on-line voting for parties with no regional tie-downs so the party with the highest number of votes wins - none of this parliamentary seat bollocks. What would your strap line be anyway? "Don't be a wally, vote Ollie!" Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I was thinking either some time around the day of the election, or whenever I stop getting new people responding. I've taken the quiz and after this post, I'll stop responding! Results please. Quote
RantMachine Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 What would your strap line be anyway? "Don't be a wally, vote Ollie!" It's blunt and to the point, but it also asks so many questions... Quote
