I think you have to be resident for 6 months

Thats it in a nutshell.. if it were possible we would all know about it because you would have companies happily organising it for you - at a price. and probably at a much lower overall cost than the usual DAS route here.

Why would you want to?

If you cant pass your test here then your not fit to be on the roads

Because in greece you drop a back hander and get whatever license you want. Hell after 2 failed mod 1s on the bloody u turn the thought crossed my mind - I could do mod 2 fine and I never intended to do a u turn in a confined space! But you know...i do end up using the skills.

Exactly why my (greek) fiancé insisted on doing her car test here because she wanted to learn to drive properly, and why her sister got her licence in greece and then her dad made her do driving lessons for another 2 months before she was allowed out alone.

And to echo someone else - if you can't pass the UK test then you're not fit to be on the roads, so don't put the rest of us in danger ya

Somehow I don't think you would and again it was a question as I have a holiday over there and was wondering if I could otherwise why would I bother doing the rest of my tests use your head

Nope, can't think why you would invest the effort in doing the first bit in the UK and then opt for doing a test in Greece. Doesn't make any sense.

And I would certainly say the same thing to anyone thinking that taking their test in another country was a quick easy route to getting a licence.

Bikers tend to be a pretty outspoken bunch - thick skin and ability to not get intimidated are essential for any biker, so I'm pretty sure Miss Megg actually would say exactly what she thought directly to your face.

None of us want to share the roads with incompetent riders who crash and give bikers a bad name and increase insurance premiums for riders who have taken the full UK test.

Even though we are supposed to be a European union, the testing standards in other member states are very different from those in the UK and the level of currpuption in countries such as Greece are much higher.

So without mentioning why you would do the majority of your training in the Uk then take your test in Greece, its natural for people to assume you were trying to take the easy route.

I go to Greece on holiday usually once a year but can honestly say passing my bike test there never crossed my mind. What is the reasoning behind it? Long wait in the UK? Easier testing standards?

My other worry would be Greek drivers are absolutely dreadful!!! Signs mean nothing to them, leathers mean little to them and just general road sense is lacking. I could make a very long list of the near misses we have had out there due to other wreckless drivers.

So stick with he UK for your bike test.

Yes the UK test is probably tougher but tbh the uk one isn't that hard or I wouldn't have passed

But I'm almost sure you can only drive/ride on a foreign licence for 12 months.Then you would have to apply for a provisional and take the uk test.

As a EU/EEA citizen, You can drive in Great Britain on your full, valid driving licence until you’re 70, or for 3 years after becoming resident in Great Britain, whichever is longer

My post wasn't really a joke.. it was making a serious point.

So, you travel to Greece to take your Mod 2 equivalent... do you understand greek road signs and the various ins and outs of the local traffic laws? and also... the man who conducts the test. How likely is it that he speaks english to a high enough standard that you can fully understand every word? Unless you're already fluent in Greek and/or have lived there for long enough to pass as a native - it doesn't seem a likely successful proposition to me.
