Stu Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 I thought BMW would have known better!! Helmets recalled over failure to meet European standardsBMW has issued a recall of one of their top selling motorcycle crash helmets amidst the discovery that it does not meet European standards.Owners of the 'BMW Sport' helmet are now being asked to take them into their nearest BMW Motorrad dealership in order to be issued with a replacement of a product of equal value.Although BMW has said that there is no safety risk to users, it has also been stated that the helmets do not meet the approval test requirements in accordance to the European standard UNECE [Regulation] 22.5.It is not thought that any other helmets across BMW's range are affected. http://www.motorbiketimes.com/news/peop ... 386058.htm Quote
Hoggs Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 It's slightly worrying that they got them to market before finding that out!! Quote
Stu Posted December 4, 2015 Author Posted December 4, 2015 it just shows that most German companies know how to fiddle the systemsFirst VAG with their emissions then this Quote
Arwen Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 There is no safety risk to users, but the helmets do not meet the approval test requirement. Surely the fact it does not meet the requirement means that is it is then classed as "unsafe" surely?! Quote
Gin Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Cheers for the heads up Stu (No pun intended ) though I don't have one myself, you may have saved someone a nasty accident. Quote
Guest Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 cue mass freak out.no.. scrub that.cue half the riding public going on ebay and seeing if they can pick one of these up for a Tenner.. then skip down to the local motorrad. Ha!!as for whats gone wrong with them.... my bet is its something really excruciatingly daft. like a number in the wrong order or a sticker misplaced. maybe a batch wasn't sampled for the randomised testing sometime in 2011 and they've just realisedwonder who makes them for BMW. I know Schuberth make the system helmets.. not sure about the one piece. Quote

Six30 Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 A lady walks into a BMW dealership. She browses around, spots the top-of-the-line GS model and walks over to inspect it. As she bends over to study it's finish she inadvertently breaks wind. Very embarrassed, she looks around nervously to see if anyone has noticed her little accident and prays that a sales person doesn't pop up, as the aroma was immediately quite pungent. As she turns around, her worst nightmare materialises in the form of a salesman standing right behind her. Cool as a cucumber and displaying complete professionalism, the salesman greets the lady with, "Good day, Madame. How may we help you today?"Very uncomfortably, but hoping that the salesman may just not have been there at the time of her little 'accident', she asks, "Sir, what is the price of this lovely bikeHe answers, "Madam, if you farted just touching it, you're going to Shite yourself when I tell you how much it is. winchman Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 If a company the size of BMW are doing this then I do wonder if other things are going on? Quote
