So I bought a cheap 'buzz box' welder a few months ago. A day or two later we were chucking out some 40mm box section at work.....well it was rude not to.

Has now had a coat of hammerite. And yes it would have been easier to go out and buy one :)

Anyone else made, bodged anything from scratch?

I ground down a set of allen keys to make stubby ones for getting at some of the more hard to reach bolts

feeling a bit out of my league here, think I'll go get my coat

I made an ABBA style stand I knocked it up out of some scrap before making a decent one

Used it for 7 years and now my brother uses it!

I must have made it well

No pics of it though!

I have also made a few four post sockets for swingarms which have done the job brilliantly

I have yet to find a way to make one work for the FJR!

How does one work at all? Does that pin go through something?

I need me some more scrap.

Nothing wrong with grinding down allen keys!

the pin goes through the swingarm pivot :)

no where to attach it to fro!

and to be honest with the weight of the bike it would have to be something substantial

Just spent 5 mins studying the FJR - looks like the only place to lift from without taking plastic off is the kink in the frame rail.

Not very fancy...but I've used this many times over the years to clamp brake hoses when changing calipers and springs! (Back in my Impreza/boy racer days)http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/13/31b0e44bce4e6d9b112fe06c64778a39.jpg

cheap Chinese one?

I have one on mine 1 year and 6k and its still looking good!

the quality is not the best but for the price I could live with replacing it every few years as opposed to £700 for a new OE one!
