None of us what to test a helmet for it's impact strength, let's leave that to the manufactures to do. But you need to be sure it's going to do it's job should it be called on.Stay safe. I think it's the lacquer but not convinced, it's just the fact it looks like a faint crack coming out of the dent. Will it affect the helmet if it's only the lacquer. Gin Posted January 12, 2016 Share Posted January 12, 2016 Personally I would change my helmet if the lacquer was starting to flake / peel like that but then I always choose to spend more on good quality gear and forget that my bank balance needs to accommodate other things, such as food shopping! If you have the funds to look into a new helmet, wonderful. If not you should be ok for now but my advice would be to start putting pennies to one side if you can..
