jw5876 Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Hi everyone, I'm thinking about getting a helmet camera but am confused with the quantity out there. Can anyone recommend a particular one please? Quote
al_stu Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 What do you want it for? You tube or just general recording in case something happens?I've got an sj cam 5000. Does the job nicely for general recording, also got a car windscreen sucker so i use it in there too. If you want to you tube you need mic ports etc so want something a bit more expensive probably Quote
jw5876 Posted February 20, 2016 Author Posted February 20, 2016 I just need it for general recording. Thanks for the replies. Quote
Tango Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I've got an SJ1000 (which has been superceded these days) which I tend to use in the car......and an Innovv C3 which I use on the bike.......http://www.minidvcameras.co.uk/viewitem ... &groupid=0. Quote
Paul-Kent Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I've just been recommended one of thesehttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291241447645? ... EBIDX%3AITI'll be mounting it to the bike rather than the helmet to get some scenery shots for when I'm out and about.I'm not expecting drift or gopro quality as I'm not spending that kind of money! Valko Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I just need it for general recording. Thanks for the replies. I have few cameras. Long story short: you should know SJ cameras are cheap clones for GoPro. There are cameras that are cheap copies of SJ.I have cheap SJ4000 clone and it does everything that all other more expensive cameras will do:"> I also have Drift Stealth 2. This is very good small helmet camera. The quality of the video is better than SJ4000.The only problem is the wind sound over 30mph is awfull, because it has internal mic only. If you want to record yourself during ride look for cameras that support plugging external mic. Here is Drift sample video:"> From wind point of view SJ4000 is better because it has a case and it stops the most annoying wind sounds. Note SJ4000 does not have a port for external mic. Again if you want to record yourself talking during ride go for something that has external mic port. Like Drift Ghost HD.I also have Furefly 6S, which is 4k video resolution.Again long story short, for general recording, and for camera mounted on the bars safe your money and buy cheap SJ4000 clone form ebay for £16:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Action-Sport- ... The other had a software bug that stopped it working.Search the forum I did some reviews a couple of years ago. Quote
