Welsh1da Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 After posting a previous thread I decided to get a pair of Michelin Street tyres and got them fitted etc.... However, I've noticed as I'm riding that between 20-30mph there is just the tiniest sensation of wobbling I don't feel it at slow speeds or over 40? Is this something to be concerned about? Is it fixable or just a part n parcel of new tyres that sort themselves out? Cheers. Quote
fullscreenaging Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 The front wheel might not be balanced correctly. See how it is in another weeks time. If it's still happening take it back and tell them what you are experiencing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Oasis Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 An incorrectly balanced wheel would only be noticeable over 50mph wouldn't it?Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk Quote
ThePhatomfart Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Hi did you fit them yourself or did you get them done for you, I only ask because did you or they align the front and back wheels when refitting Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 An incorrectly balanced wheel would only be noticeable over 50mph wouldn't it?Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk The 'wobble' caused by incorrect balancing can happen at any speed - If it has been balanced correctly, then there should be no 'wobble'.Wheel alignment should not cause 'wobble' but loose or worn bearings can.Brake disc warping or 'sticky' pistons can cause similar symptoms but usually this is over a far greater speed range.Have you tried holding the wheel and tried to move it sideways (top / bottom)? Is there any 'flex' in putting pressure on the handlebars and keeping the wheel still? Oasis Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Again, I'm learning here as I thought it would be the same as balancing of a car wheel.Cheers.Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Essentially it is the same - The mechanic should put the wheel on the machine and add the weights where indicated. Quote
