onesea Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 OK Guys just thought I would update this, did not get to J&S Birmingham traffic at bottom of M42 was Chocker looped south of birmingham and hit A/ B roads rest of way (will remember that route for the bike ).Continued gear shopping down here, ok my lady (who gear is for) is larger lady clothing size 18/20 (mens XL) she is now becoming totally demoralised with the whole thing.First thing she has learned is her dress size has gone up 6-8 sizes, and clothes are cut for some strange people. In men's sizes she is anywhere between 2xl and 5XL.I am not naming and shaming shops but I can say we have visited most of the large ones and some of the smaller ones down here. Some of the quotes we have had... This is not restricted to one shop.Whilst wearing textiles on a wet day "Oh yes you would be better of in jeans they are much more forgiving".Large shop with lots of choice of clothing "That jacket over there third from end they are the ones that will fit". "We have nothing of your size we will have to order in".Oh and asking for help but just being left waiting, how can you buy boots if they will not bring you the size to try on?OK we are not looking at top end gear just yet but something she can learn what she likes and does not like, its still going to be a few £100. A couple of these shops has seen a few £100 of my money for my gear but still do not seem to be interested...Plus being Female if its quality she likes it she will buy it... Quote

I hear that. Was trying on jeans a while back and it was really just pot luck if they fit as the sizes meant nothing!!I went to On Yer Bike Ltd A41 Bicester Road, Westcott HP18 0JX - they don't have looooads of stuff but the guy was very chilled at me running around the shop trying everything on (and let me wear the jeans home with no probs). I'd probably go back when I have money again Quote
al_stu Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I found CMC clay cross were great when buying the OH body armour, trying on all the different ones and attaching/detaching various parts to match the armour sown into her leathers to try and get a fit.Not sure if I just got lucky with a helpful sales guy though. Service in the discount bit next door has always been a bit shocking, but then again end of line discount shops arent really known for their amazing customer service! Quote
NeilM Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Do try j and s.Lisa was very well treated in there.Fair enough she is on the slight side but they knew what they were talking about and treat her with respect. She'll go back there again no problem. Quote
Arwen Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I had major issues getting bike gear that fits well. Ended up going for Halvarssons/jofma/lindstrands range as they do trousers in loads of different sizes. Short, short and wide (good if you are curvy), long, etc. The Held gear apparently follows the same sizing as them so maybe try a stockist ? I emailed motoledgends back and forth before I bought anything from them. Eventually bought trousers and jacket from them, as their returns process is very simple. Thankfully the size they recommended fitted on the first go. Quote
Oasis Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 The J&S near me are a little too in your face and pushy. If you are ever up this way, I can recommend The Rocket Centre in Blackburn. Quote
