Honda xr 125 starter cable, that should do , you can get a lot of parts that cross over, but that's another story, the one you saw looks the same size as well, but at least these are free post

I have made an offer of £8. See what happens. Thank you so much for your help spanner. If you are ever in Scotland pop in for dinner.

Not much else iI can do now, is there? Making a good ornament in my living room haha

They will probably come back with a counter offer, but hopefully this could be the reason for the shorting and I hope it comes quickly for you, it's a good forum this one and there's always someone here to help, see you next week , with your bike running :thumb:

Now in a bidding war haha. Last question of the day (hopefully ) what are the wires called going from the solenoid to the 9 pin fuse? Will need to replace it. :thumb: :thumb:

Hi ,do you mean the one that was broken, if so that one will have to be repaired, if you mean the wires going from the 9 pin to the clutch switch they should be alright to go on the new clutch switch as long as that "mechanic" hasn't cut any length of them, but if he has can soon be fixed, to connect that broken one into the 4 pin connector you should use a bullet connecter like this one.

Thank you spanner for all of your help. I have ordered all of the parts you have suggested. Even got the cable for £10. So I hope it all arrives early next week. And hope it solves my bikes problems.

 :thumb: thank you all again.

Hi Spanner. Did you have a good weekend? I went to the bike show. So nice to see working bikes haha. Nearly all of the parts have arrived this morning just waiting for the bullet connection now. Fingers crossed it all works :thumb:

You could make just a temp repair on that smaller wire, and put the starter cable on just to see if it will turn over, the starter cable is the one that delivers large amps , so bolt down tight :thumb:

Something not right there at all CW, when did the battery start smoking was it when you turned or tried to turn over the engine, I think you got a dead short from your +battery to earth

The cables of the multimeter started smoking when I tried to test the voltage. So I guess the battery is fully charged haha.

Id just leave the multi meter at present, I thought it was your battery that was smoking, had me worried there, probably just used the MM in a wrong setting, might of buggered the MM but leave that for a while

Don't worry about the MM at present, just go ahead with putting on the starter cable, in the same way you took the other off, and see if you've got lights and horn, then try for engine turn over :D
