It is more than likely that any provision you can think of is already there

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/all?title=prevention%20of%20terrorism

somewhere, in the five pages of prevention of terrorism legislation for the UK.

Whatever, I'm not a politician or a lawyer.

Prime Minister said this morning we've been too tolerant of extremism in our society and suggested change in law is needed, I don't like the woman on lots of levels, but I liked that bit.

If its already there we need to start enforcing it.

The fact is we have hate preachers in our country, we have demonstrations like the one Six30 posted photos of, we have these 500 cases MI5 are looking at, we have Muslim communities who are aware of extremism in their communities and turned a blind eye, we have British people who have travelled to Syria to fight for IS and come home and live free. None of it should be allowed to continue.

Since all of that has been allowed to continue, I assumed the law didn't cover it.

Assuming those in the image have not been charged, then the legislation which covers their actions is

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racial_and_Religious_Hatred_Act_2006

The issue was, as Rowan Atkinson pointed out, make the abuse completely illegal and comics will not be able to make jokes about Islam without risk of being charged. I think that de-radicalisation programmes run by the Muslim community are the best answer. In the same way locking people up is not as effective as rehabilitation ate reducing offending.

It's like she's trying to write her own Depeche Mode hit.

I'm not going to discuss the law on this any more (Yes, I know it was me that bought it up) because I just don't have the knowledge and skills to do it. I work with lawyers constantly and know contract law pretty well, I've been through the mill of the motoring law system myself, but the likes of TC's knowledge dwarfs me. Terrorist law? I haven't got a clue and I don't have time to go and read the links you are posting.

I totally admit that it's an assumption on my part that the law wasn't sufficient, maybe it is, though it's fair assumption given all the politicians and journalists seem to be saying the same thing. Much better when you are out of your depth to hold you hands up and say you are out of your depth. I won't say things unless I'm pretty confident I'm right.

What I will say, is if this article from the Sun is true, is that preaching extremism in the park should be illegal, appearing on a channel 4 documentary waving a jihadist flag should also be illegal, and it should be able to be prosecuted beyond reasonable doubt easily, and it should be enforced, this guy Abz shouldn't have killed anyone in a terror attack, because he should have already been in jail.

As for comedians, lots of people do lots of illegal things. Every sexually active 16 year old with a 15 year old partner in the eyes of the law is a rapist and a paedophile, but we don't prosecute them, because common sense is applied and everyone except the girls father who is now shopping for a gun, knows what they are doing is perfectly natural. The law doesn't stop 15 year olds having sex, and it won't stop comedians making jokes.

Talking of carrying on with life etc...

After the 911 attacks.

Leeds were due to play that team from Madeira in a champions league game away.

Of course game n flights postponed.

Any way 2 week or so after game was played.

Live on TV a fair few leeds had travelled out.

Cameras pan around ground to be met by a huge banner which simply said "Fxxx bin laden"

Thanks to May, they were all made redundant after the photo shoot and now work security at Poundstretcher in Stockport.

At least they'll be on better wages than the £30 a year Diane Abbott planned to pay Labour's 10,000 new recruits... :D

And on the same subject, I hear that Camelot are thinking of using Diane Abbott as their random number generator for the National Lottery.
