hello everybody. new to this so please bare with me.

i have a 2014 honda cbr125R. had this bike for about 6 months now and never had a single problem. Until yesterday that is.

I was riding home from work when a noticed a high pitched whistling noise coming from inside my fuel tank. naturally i went to the internet to try to diagnose this problem and all that i could find was about pressure realizing through the tank lid. so i set to test the theory by putting my spare key in the tank removing the lid and started the bike up . But the noise was still there. please note that noise is only there when engine is on and the fuel pump primes as normal. now the strangest thing that i found is that when i either put my indicators on or full beam the whistle changes from a constant tone to a sort of siren? does anybody have any ideas?

cheers guys

phil.

Possible blocked breather but due to hot weather and fuel expansion it is quite common for breathers not to cope and the caps to be displaced under pressure .

so what does that mean for me a trip to the garage? i wasn't sure on whether it was just an electrical fault or not as the noise changed when i indicate?

cheers for the reply man :thumb:

I had a Z750 that used to do this, especially in hot weather like it is now, It was nothing to worry about, it didn't affect the bike in any way, it was just a bit annoying.

it'll be the hot weather.

Hi Phil,

If it didn't make noise before I would get it checked by a workshop, preferably an auth. repair centre as your bike is fairly new.

Noise could mean the pump is dirty (needs cleaning) or is on its way out (the bike may start to jerk, worst case leave you stranded).

Cleaning the in tank filter is not that difficult but you need to remove the tank. Most bikes now use quick disconnects and you need to know how to disconnect it.

good luck!

Thanks for the replies guys.

As the tank was getting empty noise got a lot quieter. Put some new fuel in and it's still there but barely noitcible? Possibly was like it before but only noticing because I'm checking? Would you guys leave it now as it seems to be barely noticeable ?

Cheers
