Mississippi Bullfrog Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 It's a starter motor problem. Knocking it with a hammer a couple times got it starting normally again. A new battery can't do any harm but still annoying! You managed to break a CG! I feel some sort of award ceremony ought to be in order. You do realise that you now need to carry hammer with you everywhere you go. And one day Mr Plod will notice this and not be convinced that you need it to start a CG so you'll be charged with going equipped with intent and be thrown into jail. Quote
Westbeef Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 I wouldn't even bother taking it to pieces for the price of a new one , although taking it apart is good to learn so that's up to you http://www.mandp.co.uk/cg125-starter-motor.html Quote
Lateralus Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Percussive maintenance, the best kind of maintenance. Quote

A new battery can't do any harm but still annoying! Knocking it moves around the pile of carbon dust moving around inside . All you have to do is take it off, open it up, remove the crap , polish the copper bits with very fine emery then put it back together. This will take two hrs tops . The videos I suggested earlier in this thread will help. Quote

fastbob Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 No worries, you could use one of these kits to make the starter motor as good as new. Not bad for the money.http://i.imgur.com/FyU8qVJ.png Quote
