lyncho1983 Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 Afternoon all,So ive got my CBT this Saturday and although I know its not a 'test' as such im finding myself being really nervous. I think I will be fine just anxious I suppose. Quote
Hoggs Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 ooh exciting! You'll be fine, you doing it on a geared bike? Quote
lyncho1983 Posted August 7, 2017 Author Posted August 7, 2017 I am bud yeah.Ive got a tw125 ready and waiting, my father in law has a trailer so we have taken it to an area with private roads a few times and ive probs had about 40mins riding on it. also took his gpz 500 out too. its the only experience I really have on riding geared bikes but it all seemed fine to be honest. Hoggs Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 Yeah keep your head up, remember to breathe try not to get too tense (easier said than done!) Quote
lyncho1983 Posted August 7, 2017 Author Posted August 7, 2017 thanks for the tips. I feel fairly comfortable when doing 'normal riding' I just know what im like under test/monitoring sort of circumstances. Quote
Westbeef Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 Don't worry if you've rode for an hour already you're well ahead of what they're expecting. It's not a test and it wont feel like one, it's chilled out and can be good fun . Enjoy Quote
lyncho1983 Posted August 7, 2017 Author Posted August 7, 2017 thanks westbeef, that's a good way to look at it. il try have that mindset on the day haha. Quote
Moonraker Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 I was nervous when I was getting to my CBT when I did it, but remember 16 year old "youths bruv" pass it. Just use common sense and you'll be fine. Quote
Tango Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 Good luck with it fella..... it's mainly training, so you're well ahead of the game by the sounds of it..... Quote
lyncho1983 Posted August 7, 2017 Author Posted August 7, 2017 Thanks guys. Went to a un used car park tonight with the father in law, he set out all the cones for slalom and figure of 8.Got some practice In on his gpz500 and was all good. Did u turns too. Pretty sure il be fine just need to keep the nerves in check haha. Quote
Bungleaio Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 You will be fine, especially with 40 minutes of practice under your belt. I did my CBT with no experience on any form of a motorbike at all and I was allowed to take a MT07 out for the road part in the afternoon.Don't stress about it, just enjoy it. Quote
lyncho1983 Posted August 14, 2017 Author Posted August 14, 2017 morning all.so had my CBT on Saturday and it was all fine .didn't really enjoy the slow riding part. I had no issues with it but I much preferred being on the road in the afternoon. Quote
mike_1984 Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 well done Buddy I was the opposite i enjoyed the slow manoeuvring wasn't so keen on the road lol Quote
lyncho1983 Posted August 14, 2017 Author Posted August 14, 2017 thanks mate, just glad its done. I know its not a test as such but I was still nervous! Quote
madcow87 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 morning all.so had my CBT on Saturday and it was all fine .didn't really enjoy the slow riding part. I had no issues with it but I much preferred being on the road in the afternoon. Congrats mate glad it went well for ya!!I was exactly the same as you with the slow riding, although I found it much easier on the 125. I'd never rode before and the slow riding was really daunting for me for some reason. It was compounded when I went onto the big bike the next day too!!Don't sweat though it'll get easier with more practice, when I picked my bike up Friday I was sat for about 2 miles in slow moving traffic which was a great learning curve So you've got the 125 to go with, whats the plan with tests? ASAP or waiting a little while first? Quote
